Braylon Edwards Could Land in Minnesota with the Vikings
It was reported earlier today that wide receiver Braylon Edwards was shopping his services around to other teams than the New York Jets, and two of those teams were the Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams. With the development of Mike Sims-Walker signing in St. Louis (fantasy sleeper), one has to wonder if Edwards will become Donovan McNabb’s go-to target for the 2011 season in Minnesota.
I have to say, I am not sure of the fit. Edwards has had a solid decline in play since his days with the Cleveland Browns, and he will likely require a good sized paycheck wherever he signs this offseason. The Vikings have not been shy about over-paying players (Brian Robison, Madieu Williams) so they might just be willing to go after Edwards in somewhat of a desperation move to upgrade their wide receiver group.
If Edwards can get a big contract from Minnesota for two or three years, he should probably take it. If he is looking to sign long-term, I think he should return to the Jets. Edwards essentially revived his career in New York, though he’s done his best to bring it back down again at times. A change of scenery can be good for an NFL player, but too much change can eliminate them from being relevant completely.
