2011 Fantasy Football: Fantasy Impact Of Free Agency Moves

facebooktwitterreddit

Since the NFL lockout has concluded the free agency market has been moving at the speed of light. Now, my fellow writers here at NFLMOCKS have been keeping you up to date with all the moves that have occurred. Lets now take a quick look at how this will affect the fantasy value of the players.

Sidney Rice and Tarvaris Jackson:  Both have landed with the Seahawks. It looks like Jackson will be the starter, not sure if he is even draft-able as a backup. No real gain in fantasy value. As for Rice, I think he lost some value by going to the Seahawks. Rice will be the unquestioned number one, but with Jackson throwing him the ball, I’m not jumping up and down. Rice is now a low end number two WR or a high three in my view.

DeAngelo Williams: Ahhhhhhhhh, we would have seen D-will blow up with another team, but he ends up signing a five year deal with the Panthers and we are back to square one. It’s back to the time share with Jonathan Stewart. Both are high end number three’s in my view. Which really means a great flex play, but that’s about it. Don’t reach to high for them in your draft.

Matt Hasselback. Matt is now a Titan. I think this increases his fantasy value. Matt won’t have the pressure he had as a Seahawk, because he has Chris Johnson in the back field. I love that he has Kenny Britt to throw too. The move also brings up Britts value as well. We will have to play the waiting game to see if Britt will miss any games though. I think as for Matt, you can draft him as a low end number two QB for this year.

Donovan McNabb. McNabb is now a Viking. If Rice would have stayed, McNabb would have been a low end number one in 12 man leagues, but that was wishful thinking on my part. McNabb does have AP, so teams will still be worrying about stopping him. McNabb in known for loving his TE’s. Look for Visanthe Shiancoe as a sleeper at TE now. He might put put big numbers. Shiancoe is a high number two in my book worth drafting. Percy Harvin is now a high end number two. We all seen what McNabb did for Moss last year. Harvin is now the unquestioned number one. Look for a big year from Harvin if he can stay healthy. As for McNabb, I think he’s safe to draft as a back up QB. That’s about it.

That does for now. I will have more updates once all the dust clears from the moves.

Thanks so much for the time,
