Plaxico Burress to Meet With New York Giants

Remember the 2007 season? One of the top QB-WR duos in the league was Eli Manning and Plaxico Burress. In that year, Plaxico caught 70 passes for 1,025 yards and 12 touchdowns. The two led the Giants to a Super Bowl victory and all was good in the Big Apple. However, everything changed in the 2008 season when Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in a night club with a gun that was not registered. Plaxico missed the rest of the season and was released from the Giants after the season. Plaxico was then charged and was sent to jail for 2 years.

Plaxico got out of jail on June 6, 2011 and is now looking for a fresh start after spending the last 2 years in jail. Ironically, his fresh start could with the same team that released him before he entered prison. According to reports, Plaxico Burress is set to meet with the Giants on Wednesday about possibly re-pairing Burress with Eli Manning one more time.

Nothing is set in stone, but it is a bit surprising to hear the Giants have interest. Plaxico didn’t exactly leave the Giants on good terms. On top of that, Plaxico is going to be 34 and has not played football in 2 years. Still, the Giants are in need of receivers and Plaxico will come cheap. It will be a nice story if Plaxico signs and makes an impact. Stay tuned to see if any contracts are signed tomorrow or the days following.
