Notable Undrafted Free Agent Reported Agreements
While you were sleeping–or maybe not–the NFL had a frenzy of activity with undrafted free agents starting to talk to and agree with NFL teams on contracts, contracts that can’t become official until 10 AM on Tuesday. Not to worry, though, NFL Mocks monitored almost every signing from 9 PM to 1:30 AM, and some of the big names reportedly agreed to deals with NFL teams. Here are some of the most notable signings from Monday evening.
Pat Devlin, QB, Delaware–Arizona Cardinals
Devlin was a hot topic leading up to the draft, but in the end, he was nowhere near the caliber of another former Delaware star in Joe Flacco, and went undrafted. He will be nice camp fodder for the Cardinals, but unless Max Hall or John Skelton dramatically regress, there will likely be no room for him there.
Jeremiah Masoli, QB, Ole Miss (Oregon)–San Francisco 49ers
Masoli seemingly has more lives than a cat. He got a second chance at Ole Miss this past year, and now he’s getting a look from the 49ers. This isn’t exactly a big deal, but it will be interesting to see what Masoli makes of this opportunity.
Graig Cooper, RB, Miami–Philadelphia Eagles
Cooper had a nice offseason and it was somewhat of a surprise that he didn’t get drafted in April. He joins a Philly backfield where he will have to do some serious competing to make the roster, but this is a good player who can possibly turn some heads at camp.
Mario Fannin, RB, Auburn–Denver Broncos
Fannin has a fantastic combination of size, speed, and hands out of the backfield. The Broncos are really looking for help at the running back position, and he could see extended carries in the pre-season to get a good look from this team.
Zack Pianalto, TE/FB, North Carolina–Buffalo Bills
Top ranked undrafted tight end was injured most of last year, but he has the skill to actually make the Bills and possibly make an impact down the road.
Jake Kirkpatrick, C, TCU–Indianapolis Colts
Kirkpatrick was my top rated undrafted lineman available, and the Colts did well to snag him up. He will learn best from another undrafted center, Jeff Saturday.
Cedric Thornton, DL, Southern Arkansas–Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles picked up a nice defensive lineman who had 5th round talent or so, so this was a nice pickup to me. Thornton was my top rated undrafted defensive lineman.
Mario Harvey, LB, Marshall–Buffalo Bills
The top rated linebacker available from the available crop goes to Buffalo with a chance to crack the opening day roster. A very shrewd move by the Bills to go and get Harvey.
DeAndre McDaniel, S, Clemson–New Orleans Saints
McDaniel went undrafted due to character concerns and a bit of a down senior season, but he was at one point considered a possible first or second round talent. This is a good pickup by a great organization, building off of a very good draft.
