NFL News, Rumors, and Reports Around the Web: Broncos and Cardinals Have Had Kyle Orton Discussions
According to AZCentral.com, the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals have had discussions involving quarterback Kyle Orton. The Cardinals are likely planning on waiting on what happens with Kevin Kolb, as he is apparently the first choice of wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Broncos are asking for a first or second round pick in exchange for Orton. There are other reports from around the web that the Broncos have two offers on the table for Orton at this time from Arizona and Miami.
The Broncos have been staying active today, and according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, they are one of two finalists along with the Carolina Panthers in the running for free agent running back DeAngelo Williams. Williams has given the Panthers the first opportunity to sign him this offseason, and he is expected to be one of the highest paid players on the open market.
Recently released Baltimore Ravens running back Willis McGahee and his agent Drew Rosenhaus reportedly believe that McGahee could be the starting back in Denver, and there is a significant connection there as we have previously reported here at NFL Mocks. McGahee had two thousand yard seasons under Broncos current running backs coach Eric Studesville, and he’s also good friends with Denver linebacker D.J. Williams.
Also, with the Seahawks reportedly signing quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, Matt Hasselbeck is all but gone, and there have been numerous reports that he is headed for Tennesse, but don’t count out Arizona and Minnesota just yet.
