A Reaction to the End of the NFL Lockout

To my fellow fans, go ahead and exult in the knowledge that we will have football this year. The extensive and dreary legal wrangling that proceeded this day is but a bad dream now, ready to be forgotten and overwritten by gloriously new experiences. You are allowed to roar (or scream or squeal; no one will judge you, I promise). Despite the looming implications that there would be games, or even a whole season, lost to the debacle of a new CBA, we, the great mass known as The Fans, are allowed the comforting knowledge of the continued existence of arguably the Greatest Sports League in America.

And while this may seem fun, tomorrow, Fans, we separate the men from the boys. There will be a dizzying amount of players either resigned or off to brighter pastures. Even star players will be moving; can you imagine Nnamdi Asomugha in a jersey with real colors on it? Amazing! And of course, there are the many undrafted collegiate warriors who are desparate for a shot, and some will no doubt find at least a small measure of success in the NFL. And there minicamps begin, and then we have a few preseason games, and then low and behold, we have FOOTBALL. Think you can handle all of this madness? Let’s hope so.

We have football for 10 more years. This is undoubtedly fantastic. And even though I’m still unraveling my football brain from the musty folds of the lockout, I’ve never been more excited for what promises to be one of the most high-octane offseasons ever.
