Pittsburgh Steelers 7-Round Mock Draft
By Josh Sanchez
What direction will the Pittsburgh Steelers go in the 2011 NFL Draft?
There is a handful of prospects who could fill needs for the 2010 runners up. Whether it be a trade up for Mike Pouncey or selecting the likes of Danny Watkins, Aaron Williams, Phil Taylor, Cam Heyward… there are a lot of options for the defending AFC Champions. Here is my look at how things will play out:
Round 1, 31st overall: Aaron Williams, CB, Texas
Round 2, 63rd overall: Marcus Cannon, OG, TCU
Round 3, 95th overall: Greg Little, WR, North Carolina
Round 4, 128th overall: Jason Pinkston, OT, Pittsburgh
Round 5, 162nd overall: Casey Matthews, ILB, Oregon
Round 6, 196th overall: Da’Rel Scott, RB, Maryland
Round 7, 232nd overall: Frank Kearse, DE, Alabama A&M
If this is the case, the Steelers sure up their offensive line with Cannon and Pinkston, while filling a crucial need at corner with Aaron Williams in the first. Greg Little is projected as a number three receiver who could develop into a starting caliber wideout and Casey Matthews is the younger brother of Packers star Clay.
I also have the Steelers adding a playmaker at running back late with Da’Rel Scott and adding a sleeper and talented defensive lineman in Alabama A&T’s Frank Kearse late in the draft. How do these picks fill the needs of the NFL runners up? Would you be satisfied with Pittsburgh making any of these selection? If not, who would you like to see suit up in black and gold next season?
