Team Mock Draft Chicago Bears

facebooktwitterreddit

I’m going to use draftsite.com to create a board for players who are available. I’ll also try to not make the same pick as draftsite.com so you get two mocks.

On top of that. I’m not going to look ahead to who will be available so I’ll have to make a pick based on what I like and not what ends up being available.

1st round pick 29: Derek Sherrod

(Draftsite pick Stephen Paea)

I like Sherrod. Sherrod was considered one of the top tackles before the combine, but has since been moved down to the 5th best tackle. Sherrod is adept at both pass blocking and run blocking and is a first round talent. He’s also the best OL available at this point, which is a huge need for the Bears. I considered going Torrey Smith, or Marvin Austin here, but chose Sherrod instead.

2nd round Pick 62: Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pittsburgh

(Draftsite pick: Curtis Brown)

Sheard is a borderline first round talent, and a top 20 talent on Russ Lande’s big board. Sheard is a pretty good pass rusher and very good run stopper. Sheard is great value at the end of round two and gives the Bears another player who can take some pressure off of Julius Pepper. It may not be the biggest need, but it is the best player filling a need. The Giants have taught us you can never have too many pass rushers and if Sheard is available at this juncture the Bears should scoop him up.

3rd round pick 93:  Greg Salas, WR, Hawaii

(Draftsite pick Jah Reid)

I’ve been professing my love for Jah Reid for awhile, so I think the Bears made a good pick there.  But the Bears could use another WR and Salas is a good complement to the speedy Hester and Knox. Salas has good hands can do some damage as a poessession WR and can rack up some yards after the catch as well. I think the Bears could consider a running back here as well to pair with Matt Forte, but Salas is a solid pick in the third round.

4th round pick 127: Mason Foster, LB, Washington

(draftsite pick Lawrence Wilson)

Foster is a steal at the end of round two and just the kind of player the Bears need next to Urlacher and Briggs. Foster is a productive tackling machine. Foster is a leader and just a guy who wants to bring it on defense. The Bears have two very good linebackers, but not a third one. Foster is good value here as I think he’s good enough to draft in the second round. All the time we talk about not drafting players based how they look at the underwear Olymipcs and Foster is the perfect example of that.

5th Round pick 160 Chimidi Chiekwa

(Draftsite pick Terrance Toliver)

I think cornerback is an underpublicized need for the Bears and I was actually considering Jimmy Smith in the first round, but I didn’t think he fit the system that well. Chiekwa is good value here and a player that fits the system better than a pure press guy like Jimmy Smith.

6th round pick1 195: Zach Hurd, G, Conneticut
(draftsite pick:  Noel Devine)

The Bears could use help all along the offensive line. Hurd is a good sized offensive linemen and has the potential to be a starter, which is all you can ask out of 6th round picks.

Which draft do you prefer?
