The staff at NFL Mocks has been working hard to establish many different relationships and thanks to agreements with Ignition APG, D1 Sports, OTG Sports Management and St. Vincent Sports Performance we are able to bring you a closer look at the NFL Draft. Over the next several weeks you will be seeing a lot of different player interviews and we want to thank the players for taking time out of their day to answer some questions. Hopefully these interviews will let you get a good feel for the different personalities of each prospect.
This interview was provided by Darius Powell from Fayetteville State. Powell is currently working on all aspects of his game in hopes of improving his draft stock. We want to wish Darius good luck as the NFL Draft approaches.
Question: What has been your most memorable College Football experience?
Answer: Powell remembers playing against Notre Dame at Chapel Hill when he was on the North Carolina roster. He felt that the crowd was electric that night and it was just an overall great atmosphere.
Question: Who was the best player you faced during your College Football Career?
Answer: Powell quickly referenced the speed of current Tennessee Titan running back Chris Johnson. He talked about his great breakaway speed and how quickly he hit the hole.
Question: What part of your game do you feel you have improved the most during your college career?
Answer: Powell has improved each year in the mental aspect of the game. He feels that with each year of experience he was able to grasp and understand more concepts. He talked about how understanding both sides of the football was important because it allowed him to anticipate the offensive plays.
Question: To succeed at anything in life you need to have something that drives you, what is tit that drives you to succeed?
Answer: Powell works hard in order to provide for his 3 year old son.

Question: What do you love most about football?
Answer: Powell loves the physical nature of football and that he gets to compete against others. He loves having the ability to show off his skills and work hard to improve.
Question: What area of your game do you hope to improve on?
Answer: Powell is working very hard to improve his hip flexibility and quickness. He hopes to improve his ability to quickly get into coverage and break on the football.
Question: Do you consider yourself a vocal leader or someone that leads by example?
Answer: Powell feels that he is someone that others look to as an example. He allows his play on the field to speak for him.
Question: When it’s all said and done what would you have liked to accomplish in the NFL?
Answer: Powell wants to lead the league in sacks and be a dominate pass rushing force in the league.
Question: Does your draft position matter to you? Will it affect you if you fall further than expected?
Answer: It will not have an impact on Powell where he is selected. He just wants an opportunity to show what he is made of.
Question: What do you feel is the strongest part of your game?
Answer: Powell knows that he has the ability to get after the quarterback. He excels at “putting my hand in the dirt and providing a pass rush”. He also felt that he has a wide array of pass rushing moves with a good inside counter but he considers himself a speed edge rusher.
