Updated NFL Mock Draft: 1/20/11
By Editorial Staff
Mark Ingram- RB- Alabama
I have remained consistent with this pick and still feel that this pick makes a ton of sense. We have to remember that this Dolphins team made a drastic turnaround a few years ago and it seems that maybe they did benefit from a weaker schedule.
Rahim Moore- Safety- UCLA
The Jaguars are in need of help in the back end of their secondary which Moore will be able to provide. Moore is a ballhawk that will be able to protect the back end of the defense while still creating turnovers.
Cameron Heyward- DE/DT- Ohio State
I believe that the Patriots will use one of their 1st round picks to select a defensive end for their 3-4 system. Heyward is a perfect fit for the 5 technique and should be able to hold strong against the run as well as provide a pass rush.
JJ Watt- DE- Wisconsin
There are several teams that will be looking to fill their openings at the 5 technique and the Chargers are one of those teams. Watt is the ideal candidate to step in and provide the Chargers with a steady force on the outside.
Gabe Carimi-OT- Wisconsin
The Giants will look to bring in some youth along their offensive line and it starts here with Carimi. Count me as one of the few that feel Carimi has a future at left tackle even though he could be a dominate right tackle. His ability to run block will fit right in with the Giants game plan.
Ryan Kerrigan- DE- Purdue
Tampa had a very good draft last year and they need to continue that trend if they hope to continue their rise. Adding someone that can create pressure off the edge will help open things up on the inside for last year’s top pick Gerald McCoy.
Anthony Castonzo- OT- Boston College
The Chiefs were successful this season largely because of their impressive running game. To ensure the success of the running game they need to continue building along the offensive line. The Chiefs could also look to add another pass rusher to take some pressure off of Tamba Hali.
Nate Solder- OT- Colorado
I am not one of the people that feel Solder is a 1st round talent but he fits a need for the Colts. Solder is going to take some time to develop but his physical skill set show tremendous upside. The Colts either need to address the offensive line or the defensive line with this selection.
Brandon Harris- CB- Miami
The Eagles will make adding another cornerback to the mix a priority this offseason. Harris brings a lot to the table and has the ability to jump in and start from day one.
Cameron Jordon- DE- Cal
Jordon is an ideal fit for a 3-4 defense but he has the skills and ability to play defensive end in a 4-3. He should be able to come in and put up more production than Alex Brown.
