2011 NFL Mock Draft: 12/30/10
By Editorial Staff
16. Miami (7-8)- Mark Ingram- RB- Alabama
– I am still on board with this pick and have been for awhile. The Dolphins are facing decisions with both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown so finding some youth and talent is important. Ingram could come in and help get the running attack back on track.
.
17. Jacksonville (8-7)- Cam Newton- QB- Auburn
– I think this past weekends loss only highlighted the limitations of David Garrard. It is time for this franchise to realize that Garrard will never be able to lead this team to meaningful victories.
.
18. San Diego (8-7)- Jon Baldwin- WR- Pitt
– The Chargers showed last year that they are not afraid to let players go and replace them in the draft. They also showed that they will reach for a player if he fits a need. I expect both Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd to leave via free agency this offseason leaving a big hole in the San Diego receiver corps.
.
19. New York Giants (9-6)- DeMarcus Love- OL- Arkansas
– I have several offensive linemen rated higher than Love but his play fits what the Giants like to do along the line. Love could play either right tackle or one of the guard positions and help the Giants rebuild their aging offensive line.
.
20. Tampa Bay (9-6)- Rahim Moore- S- UCLA
– The Buccaneers defensive backfield has a few holes and Moore could plug one. Moore is the ideal candidate to patrol the deep middle of a defense while creating turnovers.
Order of the following teams to be determined by results of the playoffs.
21. St. Louis (7-8)- Justin Blackmon- WR- Oklahoma State
– The Rams would be lucky if Blackmon fell to this spot in the draft because he is a very talented player. The main goal for St. Louis needs to be surrounding Sam Bradford with more player makers.
.
22. Indianapolis (9-6)- Tyron Smith- OT- USC
– Smith is quickly shooting up my draft ranking and could find himself as my top rated tackle. When you look at Smith you immediately notice his slender build but don’t let that fool you he has good strength. He possesses the best footwork of anyone in this draft. The Colts need to continue to protect Manning.
.
23. Green Bay (9-6)- Ryan Kerrigan- DE/OLB- Purdue
– Kerrigan is the type of player Dom Capers will love due to his high motor and versatility. Look for Capers to utilize Kerrigan in many different ways giving him another pass rushing option opposite Clay Matthews.
.
24. Kansas City (10-5)- Anthony Castonzo- OT- Boston College
– Kansas City has done a nice job building from the inside out and they will continue that trend in this draft. The staple of the Kansas City offense as been their running attack and that all starts with the blocking up front. Adding Castonzo will allow them to shuffle some players around and only make that unit stronger.
.
25. Philadelphia (10-5)- Janoris Jenkins- CB- Florida
– Each week I am more and more convinced that the Eagles will add a cornerback in this years draft. Jenkins is will be a good addition to an Eagles team that likes to take chances and create turnovers. In the past I have compared Jenkins to Asante Samuel and I stand by that comparison.
