NFL Bold Predictions
By Editorial Staff
As we head into week 10 in the NFL we are entering the last bye week for those teams that haven’t yet enjoyed a breather yet. After half a season of football we still have no idea who the best team is as no team has dominated to this point. That of course makes the Bold Predictions segment quite the challenge, but thats what makes it so fun.
Game of the Week: Baltimore Ravens (6-2) @ Atlanta Falcons (6-2)
This was a tough decision with some intriguing prime match-ups of some of the top teams. Pittsburgh and New England on Sunday Night Football should be a great game but I think the biggest barometer of the NFL’s best is being played in Atlanta with the return of Thursday Night Football. Many feel as though the AFC is the dominate conference, but the NFC made some statements last week and will look to do so with Atlanta trying to take down the Ravens. The Thursday night matchup in the Georgia Dome features two young quarterbacks both taken in the first round in 2008. Matt Ryan has proven to be everything the Falcons had hoped for when they drafted him as a replacement following the Michael Vick debacle. Joe Flacco has proven that the Ravens made the right move by trading up to get him in the draft 3 years ago. The Ravens defense is not as strong this year as it has been in recent years but they are still ranked in the top ten of overall defense and will have a stiff test in Ryan and his 14-1 record in the Georgia Dome. The Falcons will finally show the weakness of the Baltimore defense and light up their secondary. Roddy White will have another monster game and go for 147 yards and 2 TD’s. Michael Turner will carry the ball 26 times for 138 yards and a late insurance TD and the Falcons will handle the Ravens 28-13 to prove the NFC isn’t as weak as many suspected.
Other Bold Predictions
**Randy Moss will have a stellar debut in his first game with the Titans. He will catch 8 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown as the Titans keep the Dolphins winless at home.
**The Dolphins with Chad Pennington at the helm will go back to their run game and feature the Wildcat more this week than they have all year. As a result both Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams will go for over 100 yards rushing. However, it won’t be enough as they fall to the Titans.
**Jason Garrett and the Cowboys will have a new look this week. The reports are that Garrett brought out the full pads in practice this week to change things up and he may only have 8 games as the Dallas head coach. With no time to lose he will go back to the passing game and utilize his star wide receivers in Miles Austin and rookie Dez Bryant. Both will catch a touchdown and the Cowboys will take down the Giants and end their five game winning streak.
