DeMarcus Love – OT #65 – Arkansas

6-5 315lbs Senior

Pros:

DeMarcus is a stand out pass blocker. Does a great job of extending his arms and locking into defenders. Has quick feet to move with speed rushers and the build to hold up against the bull rush. Due to the offensive scheme run at Arkansas, Love has experience playing on both sides of the line and has played at every line position except center. Size, athleticism, and versatility are the highlights of DeMarcus’s skill set.

Cons:

Love’s run blocking technique could use plenty of work. Part of it is that he is not asked to do it a lot at Arkansas and part of it is a lack of refined technique in that part of his game. While he has no trouble exploding off the line and getting to the second level, he struggles to find defenders to block once there and lots of times will out run the defender and end up blocking no one on the play. Being able to add a phsyical presence to his run blocking would go a long way to balancing out his game.

Thoughts:

DeMarcus Love is one of the better senior offensive line prospects to enter the 2011 draft, but he is not without his flaws. He might not be an ideal franchise left tackle, but he does have the talent and intangibles to play in the league for a very long time.

Projected Round:

Has the talent to be swooped up in at the end of the first, but will probably end up somewhere in the 2nd round after all the juniors have declared.
