College Football Game of the Week: #7 Florida @ #1 Alabama
By Editorial Staff
College Football is officially here and the writers at NFL Mocks could not be more excited to start evaluating some NFL Prospects. You can count on at least 1 article a week that will highlight a big time College Football game a week. The article will focus on identifying some of the top prospects from each team and the key match-ups within that game.
Alabama is in the middle of a stretch of games where they have to play Arkansas, Florida, and South Carolina. This week they got the #7 Gators at home in a game that promises to feature a lot of great athletes and two top notch coaches.
Alabama is a team that features a lot of top notch NFL Prospects and right now the top on our board is wide receiver Julio Jones. Jones is a big wide out that has excellent speed. He does a good job finding the open zone and is always a down the field threat. This is going to be a great matchup as he is likely to face Janoris Jenkins who is considered one of the top corners in the country.
Mark Ingram has missed the first two games but since his return he has be amazing. He is averaging almost 10 yards a carry and has broken off several long runs. I am very high on Ingram and feel he will be a very good NFL back.
Alabama has what feels like unlimted talent on the defensive side of the ball and Marcel Darceus is arguably the best of the bunch. Darceus is a big defensive lineman that is strong against the run and pass. He uses his excellent speed to get into the backfield and create pressure on both the quarterback and ball carriers.
Marcel Darceus Scouting Report
Mark Barron is a very physical safety that loves to support the run. He delivers powerful blows on the ball carrier but he is also very strong in coverage. He uses his good speed to cover sideline to sideline and possesses excellent hands that always make him a threat to get the turnover.
Probably one of the best matchups in all of college football this weekend will be Janoris Jenkins vs Julio Jones. Jenkins has both good size and speed for his position and will not be over-matched by Jones’ ability. Jenkins has several picks already this year and he will be looking to add more Saturday night.
Janoris Jenkins Scouting Report
Mike Pouncey has received a lot of bad press so far this year because of his struggles snapping the ball. However, he is slowly improving and his blocking has been superb. Pouncey is very powerful but also boasts enough speed to be a factor pulling on sweep plays.
Safety Will Hill was a highly touted recruit a few years ago but has yet to breakout. Saturday night will be a great opportunity for Hill to showcase his supurb skills. There is no doubting Hill’s athletic ability but he needs to show he has the smarts to also be effective.
