St. Louis Rams Contributing Rookies
By Editorial Staff
NFL Mocks is going to do a team by team look at what rookies have the potential to contribute during their first season. Every year there are countless rookies that have major and minor impacts. Everyone expects the 1st round picks to make an impact but we hope to point out some other players that may help your favorite team win games.
While the Rams got a good player with the #1 overall pick I bet they are hoping to win a few more games and avoid that spot in the 2011 draft.
Sam Bradford: I dont anticipate a long wait until Bradford is the starting quarterback of the Rams. AJ Feeley is a nice backup but there is a reason he hasn’t stuck as an NFL starter.
Rodger Saffold: Saffold is challenging for the starting left tackle position but is all but guaranteed a starting spot on the offensive line. Saffold is another nice building block to added to the young Rams offensive line.
Jerome Murphy: The Rams don’t have a very good secondary and that leaves the door open for Murphy to get a ton of playing time. However, a recent ankle injury could hold him back some.
Mardy Gilyard: The Rams have inexperienced and questionable talent at the wide receiver position. This should open the door for the rookie 4th round draft pick. Gilyard brings added value as a kick/punt returner.
George Selvie: Selvie has put himself on the map at Rams training camp and continued that success with a sack in this weekends preseason opener. Selvie has good pass rushing technique and could work his way into the defensive line rotation.
Josh Hull: Hull might not be the flashiest of players but he produces. He started his NFL career with 8 tackles and 1 for loss in the preseason opener. Hull will definitely contribute on special teams and could challenge for playing time on the defensive side of the ball.
