Tampa Bay Buccaneers Contributing Rookies

NFL Mocks is going to do a team by team look at what rookies have the potential to contribute during their first season.  Every year there are countless rookies that have major and minor impacts.  Everyone expects the 1st round picks to make an impact but we hope to point out some other players that may help your favorite team win games.

I am not sure if there is any other team in the NFL that will be relying on such a young core to fill out the majority of their starting lineup.  The Bucs have a bright future and the additions from this draft class are poised to be major contributors.

Gerald McCoy– McCoy will immediately become one of the starting defensive tackles and figures to be a disruptive force in the middle of the Bucs defense for years to come.

Brian Price– Price has been slowed lately because of a minor hamstring injury but prior to the injury he was impressing coaches.  He will be battling Roy Miller for the starting spot opposite McCoy.  However, Price will get a lot of playing time when the defense rotates in fresh players.

Mike Williams– Williams is listed on the depth chart as the #1 wide out and has been extremely remarkable all throughout training camp.  The Bucs expect big things out of the 4th round draft pick.

Arrelious Benn–  Benn started off training camp a little slower than his fellow rookies but has since turned it on.  He will be battling Sammie Stroughter, Reggie Brown, and Maurice Stovall for playing time.  However, my money is on Benn emerging as the starter along side Williams.

Myron Lewis–  Lewis recently suffered a hamstring injury that has kept him out of practice but prior to the injury he was the leading candidate for the nickle back position.  If Lewis can return soon the chances are high that he retains that role.
