Arizona Cardinals Contributing Rookies
By Editorial Staff
NFL Mocks is going to do a team by team look at what rookies have the potential to contribute during their first season. Every year there are countless rookies that have major and minor impacts. Everyone expects the 1st round picks to make an impact but we hope to point out some other players that may help your favorite team win games.
Most news out of the Cardinal’s camp has been about the same fights that occur every year during training camp. There is some news on their newly minted draft picks though:
Dan Williams (1st) and Daryl Washington (2nd) are expected to contribute early, however, there hasn’t been much in print, or blogged, about how they are coming along in camp. Question six on this list of “10 Questions for Training Camp” from the Cardinals team blog might give a hint as to why. SPOILER ALERT: They make rookies work their way into the starting line-up. There are still nine other questions, so its not like I ruined everything for you.
WR’s Septhen Williams and Andre Roberts are an undrafted rookie and a 4th rounder respectively and have a good chance of making in on the roster as the 4th and 5th wide receivers. Williams has especially impressed and has the size (6’5”, 210) to make an impact on that roster.
QB John Skelton was drafted in the 5th round, but undrafted Max Hall has looked better running the offense and has the lead for the 3rd quarterback spot. It looks like the decision will come down to the reliably of Hall vs the potential of Skelton.
TE Jim Dray (7th) hasn’t practiced much with a quad injury. The Cardinals need help at the tight end spot, but have been hurt by injuries at the position.
