2011 NFL Draft Position Rankings: Guards/Centers
By Editorial Staff
Here at NFLMocks we are continuing to preparations for the 2011 NFL Draft. We are flying through our Scouting Reports and have put out our 1st Mock Draft. Now we are ranking the top 5 draft eligible prospects at each position. These rankings help complement our Big Board but you will also find some players that are not on our Big Board. We are giving each player a NFL player comparison but I caution everyone to take those comparisons lightly. We hope that you use our rankings to help figure out who your team may target in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Thoughts:
I am sure every NFL fan has heard the talk about the league turning into a pass happy league but that hasn’t seem to impact the draft stock of centers and guards. In the last two drafts Alex Mack, Eric Wood, Mike Iupati, and Maurkice Pouncey have all been selected in the first round and Iupati as high as #17. While the NFL has shifted to more of a passing game that doesn’t mean you don’t need to control the line of scrimmage. We have Justin Boren ranked #1 on this list because he is a big and nasty offensive lineman. His attitude is infectious and he could instantly become the leader of your offensive line. Next we have Mike Pouncey and Stefen Wisniewski both of whom could play either center or guard. Their versatility will help their transition into the NFL. At #4 we have Kristofer O’Dowd who has a ton of playing time and is as solid as them come. He reminds me of Jeff Saturday with his ability to direct the entire offensive line. Rounding out the top 5 is Rodney Hudson who is a little undersized but very athletic. Overall I think this is a very strong group and we could see as many as 4 of these players selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
