Andrew Melnick’s Final Mock Draft
The latest mock draft from Andrew Melnick.
- St. Louis Rams – Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma – St. Louis gets the franchise Quarterback they need after Bradford lit it up in both his private workout and his pro day.
- Detroit Lions – Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska – The Lions could use a Tackle to block for the franchise Quarterback in last year’s draft (Matthew Stafford), but Suh is just too good to pass up.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma – The Bucs get a monster who would be the #1 Defensive Tackle in almost any other draft.
- Washington Redskins – Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma – The Redskins looked like they may go Quarterback but instead brought in Donovan McNabb. Now they need someone to protect him.
- Kansas City Chiefs – Eric Berry, S, Tennessee – The Chiefs may also go Offensive Tackle but it will be very difficult for them to pass on a player as skilled as Berry.
- Seattle Seahawks – Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State – The Seahawks should have replaced former All-Pro Walter Jones before this but they get good value here.
- Cleveland Browns – Earl Thomas, S, Texas – Rumor has it the Browns would like to trade up to draft Sam Bradford, but at 7, they can land Thomas, who some call the best Safety in the draft.
- Oakland Raiders – Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland – This seems like a stretch, but Al Davis has trouble passing on “workout warriors.”
- Buffalo Bills – Brian Bulaga, OT, Iowa – The Bills also need a Quarterback, but they’re not in love with Clausen and instead choose to help their poor offensive line.
- Jacksonville Jaguars –Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame – The Jaguars just can’t pass on another potential franchise Quarterback.
- Denver Broncos – Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama – The Broncos need an Inside Linebacker and the ultra-productive McClain is the best in this draft.
- Miami Dolphins – Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee – Williams looks like he could be a perfect fit at Nose in Miami’s defense.
- San Francisco – Joe Haden, CB, Florida – The 49ers need a Corner and they get lucky enough to have the top Corner in the draft fall to them.
- Seattle Seahawks – C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson – Spiller is a home run threat and Seattle does not have a good situation at Running Back.
- New York Giants – Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, USF – The Giants could opt for a Cornerback and would to land McClain, but instead they pick a pass rusher full of potential.
- Tennessee Titans – Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech – The Titans need to replace Kyle Vanden Bosch and take the top pass rusher left on the board.
- San Francisco 49ers – Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers – The 49ers got their Cornerback, now they get their Offensive Tackle. Work ethic is a concern but Davis has a lot of talent.
- Pittsburgh Steelers – Maurkice Pouncey, C, Florida – The Steelers need help up front. Pouncey gives it to them.
- Atlanta Falcons – Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan –The Falcons need to get more pressure on the Quarterback. Graham provides that.
- Houston Texans – Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State – Wilson steps in for the departed Dunta Robinson.
- Cincinnati Bengals – Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma – The Bengals need a Tight End and they get the best Tight End in the draft.
- New England Patriots – Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State – It looks like the Patriots are going to go defense and they’d love Brandon Graham or Sergio Kindle, but if Bryant slips this far, and it looks he might, it will be hard for Belichick and company to pass on Randy Moss’ eventual replacement.
- Green Bay Packers – Charles Brown, OT, USC – The Packers need youth up front.
- Philadelphia – Devin McCourtney, CB, Rutgers – The Eagle could select a lineman like Idaho’s Mike Iupati or a Safety like Taylor Mays but instead opt for a Cornerback.
- Baltimore Ravens – DeMaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech – The Ravens still need a #1 Wide Receiver for Joe Flacco.
- Arizona Cardinals – Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas – Kindle could be a perfect OLB in the 3-4.
- Dallas Cowboys – Taylor Mays, S, USC – The Cowboys need a safety and they get the supremely gifted Mays here.
- San Diego Chargers – Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno State – LaDainian Tomlinson is gone and Darren Sproles and the Chargers seem destined to part ways at some point so the Charges take the second best back in the draft.
- New York Jets – Jerry Hughes, OLB, TCU – Despite the recent signing of Jason Taylor, The Jets would love to get a young pass rusher. Hughes seems like a perfect fit in the 3-4.
- Minnesota Vikings – Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State – The Vikings could go a number of ways and have even been linked to a few Quarterbacks, but instead they decide to sure up their secondary.
- Indianapolis Colts – Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State – The Colts need some help on both lines and choose to go defense here.
- New Orleans Saints – Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri – Despite winning the Super Bowl, the Saints still need help on the defensive end. Weatherspoon can step in for the departed Scott Fujita.
