Top defensive tackles McCoy and Suh to visit Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week
By Josh Sanchez
It is no secret that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hope to land one of the top two defensive tackles with the third-overall pick in the upcoming draft. With all signs pointing to the Rams selecting quarterback Sam Bradford with the first pick, it looks like the Buccaneers will get their wish.
Tampa Bay is preparing for themselves for any scenario by bringing in both Nebraska stud defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma’s Gerald McCoy in for visits next week.
According to Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune, Gerald McCoy will be in Tampa on Sunday to visit with head coach Raheem Morris and the coaching staff. Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh is scheduled to visit on Tuesday.
It looks like Detroit will take either McCoy or Suh at the second pick, which will leave the other player available for the Bucs. McCoy seems to be a better fit in Detroit with Jim Schwartz’s scheme, but there is no sure sign as to which player will be their selection.
Tampa Bay ranked last in the NFL against the run last season and they need some serious help along the interior line to help sure up the rush defense that allowed 158 rushing yards and 4.8 yards per carry last season.
The Bucs have lacked a dominant defensive tackle since the Warren Sapp days, and they will welcome either McCoy or Suh to their line-up. Whichever guy is available will be the selection and immediately improve the defensive line.
