Sam Bradford’s shoulder is becoming less of a concern

As we get closer and closer to April’s NFL draft, the popular opinion is that Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will be the first-overall pick. The St. Louis Rams hold the selection and are in desperate need of a franchise signal-caller.

On Monday, Bradford will conduct a private workout for scouts. This will be the first time they will get a look at Bradford throwing around the pigskin since he injured his shoulder early last season.

Bradford suffered a sprained AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder in the season opener against BYU and then returned to the lineup only to reinjure the shoulder against Texas.

The biggest concerns surrounding Bradford are about his health. His shoulder appears to be coming along well, but scouts will have to see his toss the ball around before they can make a final assessment. A good workout and clean bill of health for Bradford will likely solidify his spot atop the upcoming draft.

Jeff Legold of the Denver Post wrote, “Privately, word around the league is the Rams have received optimistic reports about Bradford’s shoulder, that the procedure, done by renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews, wasn’t nearly as serious as the repairs Andrews made on Drew Brees’ shoulder before Brees signed with the New Orleans Saints.”

Bradford could have been the top quarterback taken in last year’s draft, and the closer we get to April it seems that scouts and GM’s are remembering that fact. A healthy Bradford is the best quarterback in this draft and he has the ability to be a franchise signal-caller with his rare accuracy.
