This is a multiple-part series that encourages readers to participate in the draft discussion. Don’t agree with my top prospects at a respective position? Tell me who should be or shouldn’t be included and why, I want to hear your opinions!

The running back position for the 2011 NFL Draft is not as deep as it has been in years past. While there will most likely be at least one prospect drafted in the first round in late April, there is a not a player at this position that has the physical ability that an Adrian Peterson or LaDainian Tomlinson did when they came into the pros. None the less, there are a couple of good backs that have the capability to be solid starters in the NFL. The 2009 Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram, out of Alabama tops my list for the best three 2010 running back prospects.  Here is a breakdown of Ingram and my No. 2 and No. 3 running prospects. As always in this series, I want to hear your opinions on who you think should or shouldn’t be on this list and why.

The Denver Broncos have consistently been one of the league’s worst defenses since the end of the 2006 campaign when inside linebacker Al Wilson got injured. For a brief period of time there, the Broncos actually had a very dominant defense from 2005-2006, and Wilson was a big reason why.

When Wilson hurt his spine, the Broncos’ defense seemed to go way downhill. Even a 2007 draft class that included three defensive line prospects was not enough to help the Broncos, as none of the three players became regular starters. From 2008-2010, the Broncos pretty much just gave up on drafting defensive linemen. In 2008, they picked up Carlton Powell who never saw the field, and in 2009 they selected Robert Ayers whose next down as a defensive end will be his first.

In 2010, it was much of the same. The Broncos picked up a guy in Jammie Kirlew in the seventh round, one who was slated to play linebacker as well. He didn’t make it out of training camp.

Updated Big Board: 2/02/11 - NFL Mocks - NFL Mocks - Covering the 2012 NFL draft, Mock Draft Database, Scouting Reports, and Fantasy Football

I really don’t get to involved with mocking past the 1st round but I wanted to give it a shot.  Below is what I feel could happen on day two of the 2011 NFL draft.

33. New England Patriots (Via Carolina) – Mikel Leshoure, RB Illinois
- The Pats addressed the defense in round 1 and now they steal with Leshoure.  He has the ability to be a true force in the Patriots offense.

34. Buffalo Bills – Colin Kaepernick, QB Nevada
- There are some offensive linemen still left on the board but Kaepernick represents a player with a ton of upside.  His skill set fits exactly what Head Coach Chan Gailey looks for in a quarterback.  The presence of Fitzpatrick will provide Kaepernick the time he needs to develop.

35. Cincinnati Bengals – Ryan Williams, RB Virginia Tech
- Benson is a free agent and even if he returns the Bengals need someone to give him rest.

36. Denver Broncos – Drake Nevis, DT LSU
- The Broncos defensive line is shaping up nicely with the additions of Bowers and now Nevis.

37. Cleveland Browns – Corey Liuget, DT Illinois
- The Browns are following Denver’s lead and adding Liuget will help with the pass rush.

38. Arizona Cardinals – Ben Ijalana, OT Villanova
- The Cardinals offensive line has been an issue and Ijalana has a lot of upside.

39. Tennessee Titans – Ryan Mallett, QB Arkansas
- It’s hard to believe Mallett falls to the 2nd round but here he is landing with a team I feel could pull the trigger on him in round 1.

40. Dallas Cowboys – Mike Pouncey, G/C Florida
- Dallas has issues across the offensive line and Pouncey is a versatile player that can play guard or center.  I feel he has the athletic ability to possible bounce outside and play tackle.

This interview was provided by Darren Evans from Virginia Tech.  Evans is currently working on all aspects of his game in hopes of improving his draft stock.  We want to wish Darren good luck as the NFL Draft approaches.

Question: What has been your most memorable College Football experience?

Answer: Playing in Lane Stadium and coming out of the tunnel to “Enter Sandman” with 60,00 plus fans all jumping up and down.

Question: Who was the best player you faced during your College Football Career?

Answer: Mark Herzlich linebacker from Boston College  and Andrew Luck QB from Stanford

Question: What part of your game do you feel you have improved the most during your college career?

Answer: Blocking and picking up pass rush 2. Knowledge of game and attention to detail.

Question: To succeed at anything in life you need to have something that drives you, what is tit that drives you to succeed?

Answer: I have a four-year-old son who looks up to me. Being able to buy him things is cool, but if he looks at me like I’m superman because of what I can do on a football field will be even cooler.

Game: Southern Miss vs. South Carolina

Where to watch: Thursday September 2nd 7:30pm (eastern) ESPN

Prospects: Southern Miss WR DeAndre Brown #5 vs. South Carolina CB Chris Culliver #17

Thoughts: DeAndre Brown has to be one of the more physically gifted wide receivers in College Football.  At 6-6 and 240lbs he is a intimidating presence that also boasts good speed.  However, his best attribute is his size and he presents a match-up problem every week.  If Southern Miss has a chance to upset South Carolina it’s going to come on the shoulders of Brown.  Brown will spend sometime matched up against the Gamecocks top corner Chris Culliver.  Culliver has very good speed and above average height for a corner but it doesn’t come close to that of Brown’s.  Culliver is probably the faster of the two but he has a slender build and Brown should easily be able to push Culliver around.

How they raise their stock: Culliver has the best opportunity to show what he is capable of  in this match-up.  He has the better speed and that should mask some of this coverage liabilities.  If he can overcome the size deficient then he has a chance to improve his stock.  Brown needs to have a big game and if he delivers on this bigger stage he has a chance to get some national name recognition.  Hype is a very powerful force and for Brown this is a good opportunity to start that Hype Train.
