What happens with this pick will really depends on who the Rams select with the 16th pick. The Rams, while improved, still have some pretty big holes on their roster. They really need 2 new starting safeties, Quintin Mikell was released while Craig Dahl signed with the 49ers this offseason. The Rams also need a #1 WR to pair with Chris Givens, as well as a slot WR to replace Danny Amendola who left for New England. They could use an upgrade at the offensive guard position to help protect Bradford and open up running holes. Some dark horse positions to watch for would be DT,  Kendall Langford who wasn’t very good last year needs some competition and a TE who could pair with Jared Cook, giving Bradford more weapons.

Jonathan Cyprien – He has risen up the draft boards extremely quick since the season ended. He has the prototypical size that you want in a NFL safety. Cyprien has a very aggressive playing style which can lead to a lot of big plays, but at times can lead to big plays for the opposing team. Always goes full speed and gives his full effort. Has great ball skill and has shown the ability to extend and grab the ball out of the air. Played his best games against the best competition he played, including Louisville and potential top 5 pick next year, Teddy Bridgewater. Played a lot of two deep coverage at FIU, so some question his ability to be a true center fielder, but shows glimpses of that ability. At times will try to tackle up high on the ball carrier, causing him to miss some tackles.

Jonathan Cooper –  The Rams have to protect Sam Bradford better if they want to have a chance at the division title against Seattle and San Fransisco. Signing Jake Long was a huge addition if he can stay healthy. Moving Roger Saffold to RT would be be the ideal move, but there have been rumors of him wanting to be traded. If they can keep him they would have a great set of bookends. Cooper is an athletic OG who can get outside and get to the second level extremely well. If they make Pead their #1 RB, they will need someone out in front of him. Cooper gets to the 2nd level as well as any OG who has came out recently. He can however, be pushed back by a bigger, stronger defensive tackle if he allows his pad level to rise.

The Rams really improved last year, much of which should be attributed to Jeff Fisher. Fisher came in, changed the culture in St. Louis and got this team going. They traded for Cortland Finnegan and drafted Janoris Jenkins which really helped their secondary. They still have huge holes at the safety position and they have to address that this offseason. The Rams signed Jake Long this offseason, taking care of the LT position,as well as the RT position because they can move Rodger Saffold there. The signing of Jared Cook also gives them a legitimate threat at the TE position for Sam Bradford. Danny Amendola left St. Louis and signed with the Patriots this offseason, which made an average WR group even worse. Brian Quick could develop into that #1 WR but he is still quite raw. The Rams could also use an OG to better protect Bradford and open up holes for Isaiah Pead and Daryl Richardson.

Cordarrelle Patterson – The Rams have got to get some weapons for Sam Bradford. They signed Jared Cook this offseason and that gives Bradford a big weapon at the TE position. Chris Givens played much better than expected last season and was a good deep threat, but he isn’t that #1 WR that the Rams need. Brian Quick could potentially become that, but he was raw coming out of Appalachian State and may never develop like they want. Patterson is the best WR prospect in this class and should be a prototypical number 1. He is a big, strong, fast WR who is being compared to Julio Jones. He has the ability to shake defensive backs off and make the big play. He is still raw and isn’t really a very good route runner.

To say it was a circus in New York last year might be the understatement of the year. The Jets were a circus and on top of that they were just a really bad team. Both of the problems originated from the QB position too. Mark Sanchez is a really bad QB and a big reason why the Jets are picking 9th in the draft. The circus was mostly caused by the presence of Tim Tebow on the team. His fans wanted him to come in a play since Sanchize was so bad. Rex Ryan didn’t want him and refused to play him, picking Greg McElroy to start over Tebow. On top of all that, they couldn’t run the ball very well and their defense just wasn’t very good either. They have a lot of work to do if they don’t want to finish in the cellar of the AFC East this year.

Barkevious Mingo -The Jets were tied for the 6th least sacks in the NFL with 30 sacks. Calvin Pace couldn’t get to the QB at all last year so he was cut. They signed Antwan Barnes but he has only had 1 season of over 5 sacks. Mingo would give them an extremely athletic guy who would end up being one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. He is extremely quick off of the snap and knows how to get by his man. He is limited in the run game because of his size, but could add some muscle to his frame which should help. He also doesn’t have much experience dropping into coverage so that would need to be worked on.

Dion Jordan – Jordan is an athletic freak. All the reason I listed for the Jets possibly drafting Mingo, the same can be said for Jordan. Jordan isn’t as quick off of the snap as Mingo, however he is a much more versatile player. Jordan is a former WR and TE who knows how to play in space. He has very fluid hips and is experience in coverage, having the ability to cover TEs and RBs. Jordan has a shoulder injury and had surgery in the offseason but he should be ready for camp and it shouldn’t give him any lingering problems.

The Bills spent big money in last years free agency, but that didn’t equate to big production. Mario Williams didn’t live up to his monstrous contract last year and Mark Anderson didn’t show much either. They couldn’t resign Andy Levitre this offseason, which really weakens the interior of their offensive line. They also cut Ryan Fitzpatrick and didn’t sign a QB to replace him. From the outside that has to mean that the Bills are going to select a QB in the upcoming draft, now whether that is in the 1st round or if they wait till the 2nd round we don’t know yet.

Geno Smith – It’s painfully obvious that the Bills are going to have to draft a QB in this draft. Geno Smith is the top rated QB in this draft and if he falls to 8 it will be hard for Buffalo to pass him up. There are 2 questions to ask however. Does Buffalo want to take a QB in the 1st round or wait till the 2nd? Are they willing to trade up for Smith? There is a very slim chance than Geno falls to 8 and if Buffalo truly wants him, they will have to trade up.

Chance Warmack – Buffalo had one of the better young guards in the league last year in Andy Levitre, however they let him sign with another team and now they have a hole at the OG position. Chance Warmack is the #1 player on some peoples draft boards. The 8th pick may seem a little high for an offensive guard, but is it really if you get an all-pro guard who will open up running lanes for Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller? He would pair very well with young OT Cordy Glenn to give the Bills a good young core to their OL.

Patterson is a versatile player and he cemented his status as the number one wide receiver in the class of 2013 with incredible athletic ability and blazing speed. He has excellent upside as a potential number one receiver with his combination of size and speed. He only has one year of college production to his name, but I think he flashed the big play ability in his first year at Tennessee that NFL teams wanted to see. Personally, I think he has a little bit of Julio Jones in him. I don’t think he’s as polished coming out, but he has that kind of potential at the next level. He can get great separation downfield, and his ability to make plays after the catch is what sets him apart from other players in this draft.

Very explosive athlete at the wide receiver position. Straight-line speed to burn, and capable of breaking the top off a defense down the field. Tall, lanky receiver prospect who isn’t going to break a ton of tackles but can be elusive in the open field and make guys miss with his elite quickness. Capable of making tough catches in the red zone with his leaping ability and concentration, and will be used a lot in the NFL early on in his career on screen plays with his speed. Will occasionally drop some contested deep balls if the defender is able to jostle him a bit. The key for Hunter is going to be to get him in an offense that allows him to break the top off a defense every now and again. A team that knows how to slow play the big play. He could stand to add some bulk to his frame, maybe get up to 210 pounds or so without losing any of that 4.4 speed. I think he needs some developing obviously, but a good junior season should ensure him a spot in the first two rounds of the draft with his combination of size, athletic ability, speed, and upside overall.

Bray is an interesting QB prospect. Prior to the start of the 2012 season, we had him pegged as a potential number one pick in the 2012 Draft. He certainly has that potential, but will he live up to it? It’s fair to question with his star-studded cast at Tennessee and the relative lack of improvement in accuracy. He never completed 60 percent or better of his passes at Tennessee, whether he only threw 224 passes or 450. He has a very strong arm and is capable of making every throw, but his accuracy is erratic at best right now. He has potential to light it up in the passing game, so some NFL team (preferably one with a stable QB situation) can select him in the second or third round and develop him as a future starter or to trade for draft selections. He’s not a great athlete, but I think he can be a really good pocket passer in the NFL given 2-4 years of development.

Janzen Jackson's return for Tennessee is good for the Vols, bad for opposing receivers

Tennessee safety Janzen Jackson has apparently resolved his personal issues, and has enrolled at Tennessee for the second semester of summer classes according to Andrew Gribble of GoVolsExtra.com.

Jackson is one of my top safety prospects for the 2012 NFL Draft, and he left the team for personal reasons at the end of the season in which he led the Volunteers with five interceptions. According to a release from the Tennessee Athletic Department, the football program expects Jackson to be a “full participant” in team practices beginning in August.

This is a huge development for the Tennessee football program, which really needs Jackson in the backfield along with fellow returning safety Prentiss Waggner to form one of the SEC’s top duos at that position.

Jackson has started 22 games for the Vols and is one of the hardest hitters in the country.
