As most of you may know by know, Plaxico Burress was sentenced to two years in federal prison after pleading guilty to weapon charges. After a long two years, Plaxico Burress will be getting out of prison on Monday. Now what does this mean for his football career once he gets out? Well he has already said to former head coach Bill Cowher that he would play again and that he is keeping in football shape while his tenure in prison. Will he draw interest from a team? I think he will for the reason of what happened to Michael Vick, where he was in prison a year for dog fighting then he turned out to be an even better Michael Vick last season. Being that, let’s take a look at five teams who may be interested in Plaxico Burress.

One of the most important factors when preparing for the NFL Draft is knowing each and every NFL team. NFL Mocks keeps a very close eye on each team and will bring you an updated needs assessment at the end of each month. These needs will help as we prepare to make predictions for the 2011 NFL Draft. Continue to check out our team needs page to find the most recent assessments. Also after looking at the team needs move on over to the Big Board and see what prospects might fit your teams need. A don’t forget to study up on your favorite prospects at NFLMocksGameFilm!

New York Jets

Last season the Jets were one game away from reaching the Super Bowl and this season they are well on their way to reaching the playoffs. The biggest question on the team has to be the quarterback position but we have to remember that Sanchez is still developing. You cannot discredit the fact that he only was the full starter at USC for 1 season. The Jets appear committed to Sanchez and the next position I feel they will/should address is the defensive line. Sean Ellis is not getting any younger and someone like Adrian Clayborn or Cameron Heyward would fit nicely as a 5 technique. Depending on what happens with Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards the Jets could look to upgrade the receiver position.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills have a ton of areas they need to address but to me it all starts at the quarterback position. Ryan Fitzpatrick has had a nice season but ultimately his upside is limited. The Bills could hope for Andrew Luck but they could also add someone like Christian Ponder or Pat Devlin in the mid rounds. For all the needs on this team they should just focus on best available player.

.

2. Atlanta Falcons (7-2) Atlanta is for real, but if a team ever needed home field for the playoffs it was this team. Matt Ryan is showing what a franchise quarterback is supposed to be

.

3. New York Jets (7-2) The Jets are going to wear themselves out playing into overtime every week. But they keep on winning. Playing two game in five days in the next 2 weeks will show if they are as good as their record.

.

4. Philadelphia Eagles (6-3) An absolute thrashing of Washington on Monday Night proved that the Eagles made the right decision letting Donovan McNabb go in a trade. What to do with Michael Vick next year is the next question.

.

5. Baltimore Ravens (6-3) Tough loss on Thursday for the Ravens, but seriously has any team griped about being ripped off by the refs more than the Ravens?

.

6. Indianapolis Colts (6-3) The Colts didn’t look sharp on Sunday, but when playing the Bengals most teams don’t need to. They continue to plug people in when someone gets hurt. We all expect this from Peyton and company but for how much longer?

.

7. Green Bay Packers (6-3) The Packers are hurting but they keep on winning.

.

8. New Orleans Saints (6-3) The Saints are looking up at Atlanta in their own division and may have to take the wild card route at this point to make the playoffs. However, there is still a lot of football left to play.

.

9. New York Giants (6-3) The Giants drew the short straw when they were forced to play Dallas inspired by their change in coach. How the Giants bounce back next week against Philadelphia will show how good this team can be.

.

10. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) The Steelers are banged up on the offensive line and it showed last night as Big Ben was roughed up. They have had a rough four game stretch going 1-2 in primetime games. They are going to need to plug some holes on the O-line if they want to make a run in the playoffs.

.

2. New York Giants (6-2) The Giants put on a clinic against Charlie Whitehurst and the Seahawks. There is no doubt now that they are the best the NFC has to offer at this point and
.

3. New York Jets (6-2) Big win for the Jets against the Lions. They didn’t play well enough for three and a half quarters to deserve to win, but made plays when they needed to and cashed in on their opportunities.

.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) The Steelers are winning games but they aren’t looking very dominate in doing so. They capitalized on Cincinnati’s mistakes Monday but was unable to win convincingly

.

5. New England Patriots (6-2) New England looked absolutely terrible against a tough Browns team. Tom Brady was off all day and the defense forgot it was Sunday. Peyton Hillis had a field day running all over the Patriots defense. The Patriots will need to regroup before next Sundays showdown with the Steelers

6. Atlanta Falcons (6-2) Atlanta won another divisional game and Matt Ryan looks unbeatable at home. The Falcons are definitely in the conversation for the best team in the NFC half way through the season.

.

7. New Orleans Saints (6-3) The Saints took care of the Steelers and then turned around and finished off Carolina with ease. They don’t look like they have the same swagger they had last season, but the Saints have not had a Super Bowl letdown yet this season.

8. Green Bay Packers (5-3) Green Bay put on a show against a miserable Cowboys team and look to be one of the NFC’s best. The question surrounding Green Bay is whether or not they are healthy enough to finish the season on a positive note.
.

9. Philadelphia Eagles (5-3) Big win for Michael Vick and the Eagles against Manning and the Colts. Vick is likely playing his way to a lucrative contract after the season with his decision making and ability to create plays with his feet.

.

10. Indianapolis Colts (5-3) Peyton and company had a chance in Philadelphia late, but they couldn’t pull off the victory. The loss of Anthony Gonzalez to IR and a concussion to Austin Collie were to much for the Colts to overcome. Manning has done amazing things with very little talent around him, but it may be catching up to the Colts now.

Heading into week 8 of the NFL season we have a better understanding of who are the contenders and who are just pretenders. The clarity of this understanding makes predicting the winners at week 8 far less risky than at week 3 or 4. So here are my NFL winners for week 8:

Minnesota Vikings at New England Patriots: The weekly drama that surrounds Viking QB Brett Favre continued heading into week 8. During the loss to the Packers in week 7 Favre suffered 2 bone fractures in his surgically repaired ankle. Due to the injury all hype this week was if he was going to play or not against the Patriots. What you didn’t hear in the news hype was his ankle is as bad as it will get, meaning further injury is not a risk. So considering he is on a farewell tour in the league he will suck it up and play no matter what. But what remains to be seen is how much Favre plays within the system of Coach Brad Childress. Favre and Childress have always had an awkward relationship and now that the end is getting closer look for this relationship to be the news of next week if they lose. As for the Patriots? They are on fire after winning 4 straight. Look for the Patriots to take out some rage on their former star wide receiver Randy Moss and limit him to 2 receptions due to the solid play of rookie Devin McCourty . The Patriots will do what they do best and win as they beat the Vikings 36-14 inciting a riot in Minnesota.
