RG III in Cleveland would sure look good

This mock 2012 NFL Mock draft comes from one of our newest writers who will have more for you once the tech guys get him set up officially.

1) Indianapolis Colts – Andrew Luck QB

No brainer pick, you don’t pass on a franchise QB no matter what. Especially when said QB has been compared to John Elway and is considered one of the best QB prospects since Peyton Manning. Reports have said Manning may never play again, and even if he does he will be fragile and who knows if he could even last another season. If Manning is available to play this year, redshirt Luck under one of the smartest QB’s of all time and let him take over in a year.

2) St. Louis Rams – Justin Blackmon WR

Normally I would never take a WR over a franchise LT but the Rams recently hit on LT Roger Saffold and Jason Smith although disappointing so far, was a very high pick, and should continue to improve at RT. The real problem with their line appears to be the interior which can be addressed in later rounds or FA. Blackmon is a rare talent at the WR position in the mold of a TO or Calvin Johnson, a guy who can physically dominate you with his size strength and speed and has a knack for big plays. With Lloyd and Blackmon and some improved interior line play Sam Bradford should be in for a big year.

3) Minnesota Vikings – Matt Kalil LT

The Vikings have tried for years to get a franchise LT and came up short. Bryant McKinnie never quite lived up to the hype and Loadholt is purely a RT kind of guy. Kalil is a sure thing to be a starter and possible pro bowler for the next 5-10 years barring injury. Great athleticism and potential to be one of the elite pass blockers in the league, Kalil would help out the young QB Ponder who likes to move around in the pocket.

2012 NFl Mock Draft Will Holmgren Draft Robert Griffin III - NFL Mocks - NFL Mocks - Covering the 2012 NFL draft, Mock Draft Database, Scouting Reports, and Fantasy Football

Denver ran the ball 55 times against the Chiefs, and dominated the line of scrimmage with Lance Ball behind Tebow. The big difference in the game? Of course, a Tebow pass to Eric Decker provided the Broncos with a 10 point cushion that they desperately needed.

That being said, I think it would be really interesting if the Broncos decided to move forward with Tim Tebow as the team’s quarterback. I have seen with my own eyes on numerous occasions that he can make every throw, and obviously a John Fox-led team is going to be focused on running regardless. The Broncos’ offensive line is much more suited and built to run block than pass block, and while I don’t think the Broncos will be dead set on running the ball 40 times every week, I think this is a run-oriented team through and through.

If the draft were held today, the Broncos would have the 13th pick in the draft. I’ll mock one up under the assumption that’s about where they will pick in every round.

1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

No surprise here. Peyton Manning’s immediate and distant future are in doubt in Indy. Andrew Luck will not sit a down.

2. Miami Dolphins: Matt Barkley, QB, USC

Dolphins don’t get Luck, but they get a really good one in Matt Barkley.

3. St. Louis Rams: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

Rams get the best defender in the draft, even though it’s extremely rare to see corners taken before the fifth pick. Claiborne could be special.

4. Arizona Cardinals: Matt Kalil, OT, USC

Elite left tackle prospect who will help protect the blind side of Kevin Kolb–if he lasts.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

Jags get a big time red zone and touchdown threat in Justin Blackmon. He is a top tier WR prospect.

6. Carolina Panthers: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

Panthers get a big target to help develop one of the up-and-coming stars in the NFL in Cam Newton.

7. Seattle Seahawks: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

Griffin is a stud, and can hurt you in so many ways. He will be a great fit with Seattle.

8. Minnesota Vikings: Jonathan Martin, OL, Stanford

Martin will help protect the blind side of Christian Ponder, who looks like he has the tools to be Minnesota’s franchise QB.

9. Washington Redskins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

Shocker–Mike Shanahan goes with an athletic QB who can make plays on the run. Just throwing this out there as a possibility.

10. Cleveland Browns: Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina

Extremely fast linebacker who has potential to be a great pass rusher as well. Very versatile, excellent pick for the Browns.

Montee Ball to the Packers?

1 (32)–Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

The Colts are reeling. Can Peyton Manning truly make that big of a difference? Perhaps the league should give him the MVP trophy anyways.

2 (31)–Miami Dolphins: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

Fitting. Miami can’t even be the worst team in the league. That’s not to say that RGIII wouldn’t be a nice consolation prize.

3 (30)–St. Louis Rams: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

The Rams are in a shambles. I think the WR’s at the top of the 2012 Draft grow more overrated by the day. Sam Bradford will get his #1 WR, don’t worry.

4 (29)–Arizona Cardinals: Matt Kalil, OT, USC

Matt Kalil is the best offensive tackle in the country and the Cardinals’ OL is in a shambles. This would be a good pick to protect their questionable quarterback investment.

5 (28)–Minnesota Vikings: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford

Big, smart offensive lineman who has great footwork and could be a dominant left tackle potentially. You cannot pass that up if you’re the Vikings with Christian Ponder as the QB of the future.

Miami has now lost Chad Henne for who knows how long, so getting a top notch signal caller like Andrew Luck could really change this franchise around. Tony Sparano is likely out after the season.

31. Indianapolis Colts (0-4): Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma

Solid developmental quarterback who will benefit greatly from learning from Peyton Manning.

30. St. Louis Rams (0-4): Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

Give Sam Bradford an elite level wide receiver prospect to throw to and see if he struggles like he has in 2011.

29. Minnesota Vikings (0-4): Matt Kalil, OT, USC

Vikings need to block for Christian Ponder’s blind side. Kalil is the best OT in the draft.

28. Kansas City Chiefs (1-3): Matt Barkley, QB, USC

Chiefs get a franchise QB of the future in Barkley, who is a fiery kid with a live arm.

27. Seattle Seahawks (1-3): Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

No change here. The Seahawks add the dynamic Griffin to be their quarterback of the future.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3): Quinton Coples, DL, North Carolina

Jags get a versatile defensive lineman to add to a pretty talented young front four.

25. Denver Broncos (1-3): Dre’ Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

Broncos get some much needed help in the secondary with the long, athletic Kirkpatrick.

24. Cleveland Browns (2-2): Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona State

Burfict is a stud, and an elite linebacker prospect who plays with a mean streak.

23. Carolina Panthers (1-3): Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

Sure-handed receiver will be a touchdown machine in the NFL, and Cam Newton will love him.

22. Arizona Cardinals (1-3): Jonathan Martin, OL, Stanford

The Cardinals’ offensive line is atrocious, so getting a top notch guy like Martin is essential.
