Kellen Moore Needs an impressive combine, who else?

CBS Rob Rang was able to get the intial invitation list for the combine. This list only includes Seniors as of right now and I can’t personally verify any of this information, but Rang is a very reliable source.

Here is the breakdown:

Quarterback:

BJ Coleman, Tennessee-Chattanooga
Aaron Corp, Richmond
Kirk Cousins, Michigan State
Nick Foles, Arizona
Chandler Harnish, Northern Illinois
Case Keenum, Houston
Ryan Lindley, San Diego State
Kellen Moore, Boise State
Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M
Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State
Russell Wilson, Wisconsin
Patrick Witt, Yale

Of these players Russel Wilson, Brandon Weeden, Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins have a chance of being drafted on day two. Ryan Tannehill could be drafted on day one.

Name to watch: Chandler Harnish. a favorite here at NFLmocks could make a name for himself.

I’m not the biggest fan of Kellen Moore, but I do think Case Keenum is worth a chance at some point on day three.

2011 NFL Scouting Combine Winners and Losers

The 2011 NFL Scouting Combine has now officially come to a close, and it’s important to note–as fun as the event is to watch, it holds very little weight come draft day. If I had to guess, I’d say the game tape and interviews make up about 90-95 percent of the pre-draft evaluation process, and the other things like the Combine and All-Star games make up the other five percent. There’s nothing about these prospects right now that we haven’t seen yet. Some guys have certain measurables revealed at the Combine that throw up red flags, but overall, the game tape is what does all the talking.

That being said, the players in this year’s draft, specifically the top tier of players have a wafer thin line of separation between them in terms of overall grade. You’ve heard at least ten guys names pop up as possible top five picks, 20 guys who could be top 10 picks, and so on and so forth. This is clearly a very deep draft, and for once, the small percentage that the Combine factors into the whole evaluation process holds much more weight this year than in years past.

We are continuing our series or articles taking a closer look at the NFL Draft training facilities. As usual, we were provided this inside look by the people at Ignition APG. This week we are going to look at something that translates more to play on the field than the 40 yard dash. Every year you hear scouts and experts talk about agility and whether or not a player looks fluid. Agility is best measured by the L cone drills and 20 yard shuttle. Clif Marshall of Ignition APG stated “The 40yd dash is more of the main attraction at the NFL Combine, but these shuttle drills are more specific to the game of football.”
