The NFL Mocks crew (Including myself) had a fantasy football draft on Tuesday night. This fantasy football draft took place at NFL.com and let me tell you the draft ran very smoothly, no glitches or nothing. This league is a 12 team league that included one starting quarterback, two starting running backs, two starting wide receivers, one starting tight end, one starting wide receiver/running back, one starting running back/wide receiver/ tight end, one starting defense and one starting kicker. The bench can hold up to six players.

Usually fantasy football players get hyped about having a top three pick, but not me because I was never in this situation before. In past fantasy football drafts I was always selecting toward the end of the draft. Selecting toward the end of fantasy football drafts in past years made me really strategize a perfect way to build a team when pick at the end. So, being in the top three selection this year really took me out of my comfort zone as a fantasy football player. I was excited though because I knew regardless of who I would pick I would really be getting a top flight player. I don’t want to spoil the pick right here, so with out further ado here is my third overall pick along with all my other 15 picks as well.

After seeing that I see a link to a picture and it was this.

This picture represents two good things for the Detroit Lions.

1. It shows that Titus Young is already getting acquainted with his quarterback, Matt Stafford. Which is good, being that if there are possibly no mini-camps or anything of that sorts due to the lockout it wouldn’t matter because he already knows his quarterback a little bit. He has also met the person who won him a lot of madden games last year and that was Calvin Johnson.

2. It also shows that Matt Stafford is throwing and getting healthy, which is good since he has been dealing with injuries through out his whole career. He is currently coming back from a shoulder surgery, so  it’s a good sign to see  that he is already throwing and getting healthy. heck he looks a lot bigger, he may take some tackles this year.

The future is looking bright for the Detroit Lions. Mlive.com

Again the Detroit Lions draft talent over need, which some people are actually critical on? And I do not get why?  It’s a great strategy considering they are still a losing team. When your a losing team you should have open holes every where at every position, not just one certain position you have to put your sights on. That’s just not the right way to go. Going with talent over need you are more likely to get a boom rather than a bust, which the Lions have had their fair share of bust in the past. Lions will address needs via free agency and trade, but for the Draft its going to be strictly talent over need till further notice.

This draft brought a special opportunity for the Detroit Lions. Going into the draft there was a possibility that quarterbacks may have been taken early in each of the two round rounds, which could lead the Detroit Lions to a special player. Sure enough that happened with the selection of Nick Fairley, Titus Young, and Mikel LeShoure (who the Lions traded up for)

If this draft is another solid one then the Detroit Lions could be on the brink of making the playoffs. Sky is the limit for this team. Let’s see how they did in the 2011 NFL Draft as a I grade them on each selection.
