Adrian Peterson is THE offense in Minnesota. He’s got the new contract. He’s got the ultra-conservative play caller in Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave. And he’s having a great season, as evidenced by today’s 122 yard, 3 Touchdown performance.

Meanwhile, the media/fan scrutiny and criticism bestowed upon Minnesota QB Donovan McNabb in the first month of the season was and has been absolutely ridiculous.

What happened last season in Washington was completely on The Shanahans, period. An example of silly NFL nepotism at it’s finest. Yes, Washington is off to a 3-1 start in 2011, but Grossman’s numbers are typical Rex Grossman…under 60% completions, 6 TD’s, 5 picks, and 2 lost fumbles. More turnovers than TD’s. And despite some serious speed at the receiver position and two outstanding Tightends in Fred Davis and Chris Cooley, the Redskins are not a juggernaut in the passing game.

When the Vikings drafted Christian Ponder back in April, it was widely assumed they would bring in another quarterback this season to compete with him. Today, we found out who, and that who is Donovan McNabb.

McNabb struggled last season, throwing for 15 picks and only 14 touchdowns. His rating of 77.1 was his worst since 1999, and he fumbled a career high 10 times. Now that being said, I believe has more in the tank then last season seems to suggest.

Is Marc Bulger the most valuable quarterback in free agency?

You can go down the list of possible free agent quarterbacks like Donovan McNabb (going to be cut) and Matt Hasselbeck, but one guy in particular may be the most valuable of them all and that’s Marc Bulger.

Being that Marc Bulger is a proven veteran in the NFL he could surely provide some sort of mentor ship with a rookie that was recently drafted. Teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and Carolina Panthers could all use Marc Bulgers services since they have rookie quarterbacks in Christian Ponder, Jake Locker, and Cam Newton. It’s a much easier transaction in the NFL when you have someone who is a veteran that you can ask questions to if you need help on certain things. Also, If any of those teams believe that their rookie quarterback can’t start right away, that they need a year to sit on the bench and learn the game from a whole different perspective, then Marc Bulger could be that guy.

He can also provide some insurance to a team that is unsure weather or not that their starting quarterback is a full on starter. Perfect example: Miami Dolphins. The Miami Dolphins current quarterback Chad Henne had a strong outing early last season, but then struggled late into the season showing uncertainty of him being a full time starting quarterback in the NFL. I think with an addition of Marc Bulger, Chad Henne would be more pushed (In a good way) to become a starting quarterback in the NFL. If he fails at being a starting quarterback in the NFL, then they would still have a proven veteran in Marc Bulger, who could step in right away and make an impact for a team.

Arizona Cardinals choosing Patrick Peterson over Blaine Gabbert:

Obviously Blaine Gabbert was on the board at the 5^thpick for the Cardinals. Many thought that the pick was 100% going to be Blaine Gabbert, being that they don’t have a quarterback, but the Cardinals chose the best player in the draft ( In my opinion) Patrick Peterson. To the people who say “Well what do the Cardinals do now with no quarterback” The Cardinals can always find a quarterback in the open market like a Kevin Kolb or Donovan McNabb. As for the pick, Patrick Peterson adds even more talent to a talented, yet disappointing secondary last season. Peterson is the best player in the draft and the Cardinals, even though they needed a quarterback, just could not pass him up.
