Needless to say, it was the most fun I ever had….in my whole life! I would love to share more, but we all know what happens in Vegas…..stays in Vegas. Now, on to Fantasy Football. There have been some interesting things going on the past few weeks. It sure looks like Ryan Mathews has become the real deal, and Tolbert is an after thought in the Chargers offense. If Mathews puts up another big game against Miami, it’s a done deal and Ryan is a must start for the rest of the year. I would really make a push to trade for him if you don’t have him. The price has gone up, but it will be worth it. I would trade Rashard Mendenhall for him in a heart beat right now.

Again, I will be giving you players to start that aren’t your studs. You don’t need my help with that. Now, on to my start/sit list for week four. … [visit site to read more]

Players

Cam Newton: In week1 versus the Cardinals rookie QB Cam Newton threw for 422 yards, 2 touchdowns, and completed about 65 percent of his passes. Newton was in a shortened off season and was a raw passer to begin with. I predict that occasionally he will show off his remarkable talent, but most weeks he will struggle. This is encouraging though and I am starting to eat my words a little. Next week will go along way playing Dom Capers led defense. Will not last, this season.

League settings are pretty standard, but it’s a twelve team league, though it’s a little deeper than the standard league. One starting quarterback, two starting running backs, two starting Wide receivers, a TE, a WR/RB, and an additional RB/WR/TE.

I have every intention of going running back with my first two picks. But then I find out that I’m picking second.

I had the second overall pick .I don’t want that pick. Ugh what am I going to do.

Alright everyone, the lockout should be over today, or at the very worst Monday. Fantasy drafts will be starting all over the world once we all know where free agents end up. With that being said, I think this is the year to draft back to back RB’s in the first and second rounds.

The reason for this is simple. The RB depth this year is really, really bad, while the WR depth seems to be the deepest I have seen in a long time.

For example, in a resent 12 team draft I took part in having the 6th pick (was not a mock draft). I was able to get Ray Rice in the first round, then draft Steven Jackson in the Second. I then grabbed a QB in the third, and was still able to get Brandon Marshall and Wes Welker with my 4th and 5th round selections. The WR position is deep my friends, very deep.

Listen, more and more WR’s emerge every year. I always find a WR that pops up on the waiver wire. While it seems the days of finding a work horse back on the waiver waire are all but dead (there was Peyton Hillis last year). More and more teams are using the running back by committee. I have looked up and down, left and right for true number one backs in the NFL. They really don’t exist anymore.

These are the only RB’s that do not have a threat for the hated RBBC.

I would like to apologize to my fellow fantasy football people, I have been MIA (miss in action) lately. My life has been a little crazy, and now, I’m also writing blogs for a sister site here at FANSIDED. No need to worry though, because Mr. Freakin’ Fantasy is back baby. You can now laugh if you want too. Anyways, looks like the end of the lockout should be about a week or so away, and for the greater good of the NFL I hope they get it done sooner then that. The longer the owners and players wait, they risk the chance of missing preseasons games, losing money, and fans.

This doesn’t keep me from my hours upon hours of research for fantasy football. Along with the countless mock drafts I have already done. There has been plenty of new information brought to my attention that has changed my RB rankings.

So, here are my revised RB rankings.

Chris Johnson could be holding out Johnson has been one of the top running backs in the league, but he might be looking for a big pay day. Still it’s an unfortunate position for the Titans.

Reggie Bush could be heading to the San Diego Chargers,

“I know there has been some speculation that Bush could resurface in his hometown of San Diego, especially with Darren Sproles likely leaving as a free agent”.

Though Bill Willamson finds that to be unlikely. Reggie Bush is not as good as you would hope for a number two overall pick, but I think that he’s often under-appreciated. He will bring a whole new dynamic to whatever team he is on next. The San Diego Chargers would be a nice fit. I think he could also be an excellent fit on a team like the Colts (though that’ll never happen), the Patriots (again probably won’t happen). I’d also think he could bring something useful to the Dolphins who are desperate for speed.

Here is our updated power rankings! Can you believe we are so far along in the season? It has gone to quick! This ranking was completed by staff writer Jon New.

1. Atlanta Falcons – Atlanta will move down when they stop winning. Until then they look to be as good as any team out there, and solid in all phases of the game.

.

2. New England Patriots – Tom Brady is starting to show his fiery self again and will no doubt be ready to go against the trash talking Jets this weekend.

.

3. New York Jets – The Jets are in third here because of the 9-2 teams I trust their QB the least. They can gain some separation and show what they are made of by sweeping their New England series this weekend.

.

4. Baltimore Ravens – The Baltimore Ravens are good. We will know how good when they play Pittsburgh this coming weekend.

.

5. New Orleans Saints – The Saints are showing why they were Super Bowl champs last season. They snuck by Dallas on Thanksgiving and have had a long week to prepare for a struggling Bengals team.

.

6. Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles have been brought back to earth after they drubbed the Redskins, but Michael Vick is still playing great and this team has as many playmakers as any team in the league.

.

7. San Diego Chargers – Is there a hotter team in football in November and December? You would think a team in a warm climate would struggle in the cold but Phillip Rivers has this team on his shoulders. Once again we ask…is this the year the Chargers break through?

8. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers played their best team football the 4 weeks Big Ben was suspended. Since his return they have won but have not looked great. A big test awaits them this week against Baltimore.

.

9. Chicago Bears – Their defense is fantastic and is carrying this team. That could come in handy down the stretch and come playoff time. Their offense is their weakness but at 8-3 who is complaining.

.

10. Green Bay Packers – Obviously pretty banged up the Packers are getting better and despite a loss this last weekend to Atlanta are a team with a stud QB that no one wants to play.

.

One big, if not the biggest, pet peeves of mine is when fans or anybody sees their team draft a player from, let’s say San Diego State, and they cry out loud like they just saw “Two Girls, One Cup” or got a picture text from Brett Favre. They’re the same people who think the only good players come from the SEC, Texas, or California schools. It’s easy to make general judgments like that, especially if you’re a casual fan. If that’s the case, I have nothing against you. You don’t know any better. But in some places, where football is life (quite a few SEC and Big 12 places out there), people have trouble seeing past all the “great” wide receivers and quarterbacks from Florida or “future MVP quarterbacks” from Texas Tech. Pet peeve number two: huge stats in college don’t equal a good NFL prospect. I’m not saying everyone who follows and loves the SEC or Big 12 is like this, but in seeing so many comments on football websites, a lot of peoples’ love for their team gets in the way of seeing how a player stacks up as an NFL prospect.

Now, I’m not saying that the big/popular schools don’t produce a lot of NFL talent because they absolutely do. I’m just trying to let it be known that scouting departments, for the most part, do their homework on the entire country, not just the ACC, Big 10/12, SEC, and Pac 10, although that is where a ton of the talent comes from.

In order to prove to you that smaller and unknown schools produce big-time talent, I’ve compiled a list of very good players, some legendary, that I’ve seen in my lifetime that came from those types of schools. I went back in the NFL Draft’s history and went through every team’s draft since 1987, the year I was born. I came up with 89 players who could be considered for my list. In addition to those players, I probably missed quite a few more players since I only started seriously following football in 1996 when I was nine years old.

The list is in alphabetical order, NOT ranked in order of greatness (I just know if there are any comments on this, it’ll be from some guy criticizing me because Jared Allen is first). Some players on the list are young and have quite a few years left, so I put their age to show that even though they may only have one Pro Bowl selection, they still have years left to get more accolades. Kurt Warner is not on the list because he was undrafted out of Northern Iowa. Check out the list after the jump. … [visit site to read more]
