Obviously, Alabama has home field advantage in this game, arguably a more talented defense overall, a more veteran team, and you could make a case that their quarterback is playing better football.

That will be hard to do since LSU senior signal caller Jarrett Lee has thrown seven touchdowns and no interceptions in the month of October. Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron threw six touchdowns compared to only one interception, and also added two more touchdowns on the ground.

14 Arkansas Razorbacks vs. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide

I love the Arkansas receiver corps in this game, featuring Cobi Hamilton, Greg Childs, Jarius Wright, and Joe Adams. This is a unit with a ton of speed and a ton of playmaking ability, and they have a tall task going up against one of the toughest defenses college football has probably ever seen.

The Alabama defense features a plethora of future NFL players, including a stellar secondary led by cornerback Dre’ Kirkpatrick. This will be a great test for Kirkpatrick and the Crimson Tide going up against one of the better offensive attacks in the SEC, and the nation overall.

STAR WATCH: Ronnie Wingo Jr., RB, Arkansas

Wingo Jr. had 129 total yards last week against Troy and three touchdowns, and I think he is poised to really break out. It’s certainly going to be tough to do against Nick Saban’s defense, but keep an eye on this kid, the 6’3″ 231 pound junior out of St. Louis.

Noon ET Game Star to Watch: Wisconsin RB Montee Ball

One of the things you really hope about Ball is that his weight doesn’t balloon all the way up to 240 pounds, or something crazy like that. Wisconsin had John Clay come out this past year prematurely, and it was mainly because their running back group is so good, they basically had no need for him anymore, and his weight had severely fluctuated. Ball reminds me a lot of Shonn Greene coming out, because he plays with such a low center of gravity and the name of his game is power. Ball has tons of skill, and isn’t just a one-trick pony. He led the team with 18 rushing touchdowns in 2010 to go along with 996 yards and a 6.1 yards per carry average. The crazy part is, he was THIRD on the team in rushing in 2010, and is one of four guys at this point in time who could eventually end up in the NFL. Not a speedy running back, but between the tackles he knows how to make plays. One-cut runner with good vision and burst, and has a nose for the end zone. Consensus Honorable Mention All Big Ten in 2010 season, and returns for his junior season atop the running back depth chart after a season where he played in 12 games and started the final four. Missed the Ohio State game, and really caught fire against Purdue with five games left to play. In the previous eight games, he had 219 yards running the ball, and starting with Purdue, he had 127, 167, 173, 178, and 132 yards to finish the season. Not only that, but he had 14 of his 18 touchdowns in those five games, and is well deserving of the starting position this fall, regardless of who is behind him on the depth chart.

Offensive Outlook: Alabama lost Mark Ingram, but their other rusher Trent Richardson returns.  Richardson is due for a huge year for Alabama.  Alabama has one of the best run blocking offensive lines returning so Richardson will have plenty of time to run through the running lanes.

Trent Richardson could be the best back in the nation

Trent Richardson is bar-none my favorite running back prospect in college football right now. I love the way he runs, I love his attitude, and I love the way he works. He is a great combination of size, speed, power, vision, and intangibles, and is what they call a “five-tool” player. If Alabama is going to make a title run this year, Richardson will be a huge reason why. ESPN did a feature on Richardson last year that I distinctly remember, so I figured I would share that with you as well as a highlight reel and my personal scouting report on the Heisman Trophy candidate.

Round 1

1. Washington Redskins Andrew Luck QB Stanford Andrew Luck has to be the favorite to go #1 overall.  Washington finished at the bottom of my 2011 NFL Power Rankings.

2. Miami Dolphins Matt Barkley QB USC Matt Barkley plays in a pro style offense at USC.  His quick release made offensive lineman like Matt Kalil and Tyron Smith look better than they actually are.  Barkley was the #1 recruit in the country coming out of high school and was the original favorite to go #1 overall back in 2009.  Luck’s breakout year in 2010 before returning to school has now made Luck the favorite to go #1 overall, but I see both quarterbacks going early.

USC is bowl ineligible so Matt Barkley would be wise to jump ship to the NFL in 2012 and in the end that is what I believe he will end up doing.
