Washington Redskins rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin is tearing it up through his first two games in the NFL. How good has he been?

Washington Redskins rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been a very bright spot in his team’s otherwise disappointing 0-2 start to the 2019 season.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes star receiver has been historically productive through the Redskins’ first two games of 2019.

How historic?

He ranks in the top five of the last 23 years for receiving yards in a rookie receiver’s first two games in the league behind Anquan Boldin, fellow 2019 classmate Marquise Brown, Stefon Diggs, and Will Fuller.

He’s in pretty good company there, I would say.

Look at him just easily get behind the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary in the Redskins’ season opener two weeks ago.

According to ESPN, McLaurin is the first player with 60-plus yards receiving and a touchdown in each of his first two games since Calvin Johnson did it in his rookie season back in 2007.

That’s a 12-year old mark!

Scouts weren’t overly impressed with McLaurin’s tape coming out of Ohio State, but his speed (he ran a blazing 4.35 at the 2019 Scouting Combine) and all-around athletic ability propelled him into day two of the NFL Draft.

Of course, it also helped for the Redskins that they had already drafted McLaurin’s quarterback last year at Ohio State — Dwayne Haskins — in round one.

With McLaurin’s early production, Washington fans have to be giddy about the idea of putting Haskins into the mix and letting him get the chemistry re-kindled with McLaurin now that they’ve traded their Ohio State crimson for the Washington burgundy.

McLaurin’s emergence has obviously given Redskins fans hope that this 2019 rookie class can be the foundation of something special.

Haskins has yet to show what he can do in regular season action and Montez Sweat has nine tackles but no sacks just yet. McLaurin’s ridiculous production is a huge win for this organization as they look to climb out of the cellar and back into playoff contention.
