Everybody expects the New York Jets to hold the #1 pick at seasons’ end. This 2018 NFL mock draft is no different in that regard.

Most would assume they do the obvious and take the best quarterback available. Whether that’s Sam Darnold or somebody else remains to be seen. However, people are ignoring one other real possibility. What if the Jets decided to sell off that pick to the highest bidder? It’s not a crazy thought. That roster is badly in need of a youth infusion after seeing much of it gutted by free agency or cap cuts. They could decide to stockpile high picks and try to accelerate the rebuild.

1. player. 52. Don’t ever think for a second that Tom Coughlin is afraid to make the bold move for his team. The old former coach knows the key to his franchises’ future is at quarterback. He’s giving Blake Bortles one more year to prove he’s the man. That means either a Pro Bowl season or a significant improvement in the win column. Failing to achieve either virtually guarantees the Jaguars go hunting for a replacement.
Did they give up a lot in the trade. Absolutely. Could Sam Darnold be worth it? Absolutely. The USC quarterback was tremendous at the end of 2016 and is only 20-years old. His best days are still ahead of him, which is a scary thought. He’s got all the tools a team looks for from size to arm strength, touch, ball placement and a poise under pressure. When the stakes get high, he seems to get better.
. QB. USC. Sam Darnold
