A source with very close knowledge of the situation says NFL Insider Louis Riddick isn’t a candidate for the Chiefs job

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has reported ESPN employee Louis Riddick was a candidate for the Kansas City Chiefs general manager position.

John Dorsey was fired by the organization last week after head coach Andy Reid was given a contract extension.

On the surface, the news made sense considering the connections Riddick has to people within the Chiefs organization. Head coach Andy Reid and Riddick worked close in Philadelphia when Riddick was a scout and Director of Pro Personnel.

Behind the scenes, there does not appear to be much substance to the report from NFL Network.

Riddick tweeted his own report Sunday afternoon, saying he has not been contacted by Kansas City regarding their general manager job.

NFL Network and ESPN have somehow always crossed paths when it comes to reporting another analyst is a candidate for a job.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported in March that NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock was a candidate for the Redskins general manager position. Mayock refuted that report quickly, saying he was not contacted regarding the job.

Riddick has been connected to general manager positions in the past and interviewed for the 49ers job in January. That role went to Fox Sports color analyst and perennial Hall of Fame finalist John Lynch.
