Oakland Raiders: Five reasons to be pessimistic in 2017

After a stellar 12-4 record in 2016, the Oakland Raiders can seemingly do no wrong. Fans have huge expectations for the silver and black in 2017 after Derek Carr’s MVP caliber performance last season, and the ascent of other star players like Amari Cooper and Khalil Mack.

With expectations so high in 2017, I felt like it would be at least interesting to look at reasons why those expectations should be tempered a bit. Perhaps this will come across as too harsh, but the reality of the NFL is that it’s hard to come out year after year and play at a high level.

This Raiders team is not bulletproof, nor is any team in the AFC. They certainly have the type of roster that could contend coming out of the AFC on paper, but here are some reasons why the Raiders and their fans could be disappointed in 2017…
