It’s a good thing the Dallas Cowboys drafted, Taco Charlton in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Randy Gregory has reportedly failed his seventh drug test since entering the NFL. What happens next for him?

Before the Dallas Cowboys selected Randy Gregory in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, teams knew about his character concerns. He was a highly touted draft pick in the 2015 NFL Draft but failed a drug test at the NFL Scouting Combine for marijuana. Quickly, he fell down or completely off teams draft boards. However, the Cowboys had a plan to take him.

After being drafted by the Cowboys, all looked good for the rookie. He had kept his nose clean in training camp and was productive in the pre-season. In three games, he had recorded three sacks. Despite the character concerns, people were buzzing about the player and genuinely thought he was going to be a steal.

In February of 2016, Gregory had failed the league’s substance abuse policed. For that, he was handed a four game season for the 2016 season. Then a spiral effect happened and the once promising pre-season star, has turned into an off-the-field nightmare.

A few months after failing that drug test, Gregory had failed another drug test. Adding to his four-game suspension, the NFL slammed him with a 10-game suspension. Going along with the suspension, Gregory wasn’t allowed to enter the Cowboys facility. During his suspension, he was drug tested again and failed that one, too. Instead of just an ordinary suspension, he was hit with a year long suspension and needs to make a commitment to a treatment facility.

However, that doesn’t look to be the case for the once promising talent. TMZ has reported that he’s failed his seventh drug test. Throughout his career, he’s only played in 14 games and has only recored 20 tackles and one sack. People close to him are concerned with his personal well-being and there’s a lot of belief that he won’t be playing in the NFL, ever again.
