49ers general manager John Lynch is ready to make a deal leading up to the NFL Draft

San Francisco is turning over a new leaf with John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan now leading the organization forward. Owners of the second overall pick San Francisco has the opportunity to take a franchise quarterback to replace Colin Kaepernick.

Lynch and Shanahan could also look to rebuild the defense in San Francisco by looking at Reuben Foster or Jonathan Allen in the front seven, or Malik Hooker or Jamal Adams for the secondary.

Eric Branch and Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle quoted Lynch saying the organization has a great asset in the second-overall pick, but that does not mean they will reach for a player with that pick.

"“The worst mistakes you can make is you take a guy who isn’t that good of a player, or worthy of that. The expectations change. You put a guy in a position that is really unfair to him and you set your organization back. And then you’re trying to commit to a guy who … shouldn’t have been put in that position. We could stay pat right there and find a fabulous player, a game-changing player. It gives us a lot of flexibility to do some other things if we chose to be bold. There are going to be people that covet the pick we have, so there’s going to be some people that want to move up.”"

Does another quarterback-needy team who covets Mitch Trubisky or Deshaun Watson make the move up to number two? Philadelphia did it last year for Carson Wentz following a myriad of moves leading up to the draft.

The Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets are two teams within striking distance that need a quarterback. If Arizona, New Orleans, or Kansas City feels the desire to make the move the price will be considerable.

To me, the Bills are the perfect example of an organization needing a franchise quarterback. Having bounced between Tyrod Taylor, EJ Manuel, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Trent Edwards over the past decade Buffalo needs to “do the deal” and put themselves in a position to get a quarterback in the NFL Draft.

San Francisco could ask for a large price tag, but it could be worth it for both sides.
