#5:  Jerod Evans (Virginia Tech)

This young man might be the sleeper of the draft. Playing at Virginia Tech and not winning a ton of games caused Jerod Evans to go unnoticed. That and the fact he’s another prospect who only started one season. Most had expected him to go back to school. Instead the 6’4″, 240 lbs quarterback decided to declare. His numbers were fairly impressive but what stood out more was how he looked at times on tape.

Sure there were moments where the inexperience showed. That should be a surprise. On the other hand Evans displayed certain traits of a pro quarterback. Per usual for a VT QB, Evans is a big boy who can run well. A load to get on the ground for sure. What separates him from others is his arm. Not just strong but showcases impressive touch both on short and deep passes. He can throw that fade to the corner of the end zone or hit a streaking receiver 60 yards down the field. The big question is whether he’s a big fish in a small pond.
