2017 NFL Mock Draft: Prior Trades Come Up Big
By Erik Lambert
It’s never too early to get an idea of what the 2017 NFL mock draft should look like. Early preseason performances at least drop some hints, but it goes deeper.
Parity is a live and well in pro football, but only to an extent. By this point most fans know who the big contenders are going to be and which teams are almost certain to be battling for top 10 picks. There are several reasons for this: quality of coaching, quarterback situation. roster depth, early injury problems. All play a huge role in how well or poorly a team is going to do in a given season.
It also sets up what they plan to do in the following draft. Some might realize they have no quarterback. Others a severe lack of pass rush help. The fact that it comes down to such a wide variety of factors is what makes football so fascinating and fun for fans everywhere. Not just the physicality and the chess match, but also the unpredictability.
This particular mock draft is going to showcase just how impactful the two blockbuster trades from last April could be between the Rams and Titans and the Browns and Eagles. If executed properly both deals could be the key to two of the swiftest team turnarounds in recent memory.
