Last night HBO’s annual Hard Knocks series premiered featuring the newly-relocated Los Angeles Rams.

Many of the story lines wrote themselves: the glamour of LA, a rookie quarterback, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, and rising superstars such as Aaron Donald on defense.

However, the hour-long season premier of HBO’s Hard Knocks lacked the Hollywood glitz and glamour expected from a show in its’ 11th season.

There are a multitude of reasons why Tuesday nights episode was a snore fest, but one of them wasn’t tied directly into the show.

Last month, Amazon released “All or Nothing,” a similar series following the season of the Arizona Cardinals.

While similar in structure, All or Nothing blew away its competitor before they even started.

But regardless of whether Hard Knocks will impress or straight-up surmount Amazon’s version, we’re all going to soak in every second of it.

Why? Cause it’s football. We the fans have been starving for a piece of the action for months. The annual “dead period” the league falls into between OTAs and training camp leaves us begging for it, and it has finally arrived.

If you are stranded in the desert for a month and someone rescues you and offers you chopped liver, you’re going to graciously eat it up. To quote coach Joe Paterno, it’ll satisfy your hunger, but it won’t taste good.

Hard Knocks is chopped liver, and since we are starving we will take whatever we can get. The meat and potatoes will soon arrive, and you’ll consume so much you might get sick of it.

So regardless of how boring Hard Knocks was Tuesday night, we will all tune in next week at 10 p.m. for our weekly indulgence of football.
