Ryan Fitzpatrick (Finally) Agrees to Deal with New York Jets
Just as speculation began to emerge regarding Nick Foles and the Jets, Ryan Fitzpatrick agreed to a one-year deal with New York.
After months of negotiation, the New York Jets have their quarterback back in-house, and the quarterback carousel continues to turn.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick have agreed on a one-year contract worth $15 million. Schefter also reports that $12 million is guaranteed, while the other $3 million is incentive based.
Fitzpatrick is expected to start this season, and then give way to former Penn State star Christian Hackenberg in 2017.
New York acquired Fitzpatrick from Houston in exchange for a sixth round pick at the start of the 2015 NFL calendar year. He was named the starter after Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw during a preseason locker room fight with a teammate.
