The NFL draft will always yield players that meet expectations and players that don’t.  A part of that question is often answered right away.

Obviously it often takes around three years to decide whether a college prospect is a boom or a bust for his team.  So many factors go into having success at the pro level after all.  Still, one has to ask the question.  Among the more than 250 rookies who heard their name called back in April and May, which of them is well-positioned to have instant success this 2016 season and which face more difficult circumstances?

That is what the following list is going to pinpoint and examine.  Several factors will be considered in order to explain the selection of each name and every position group will be covered.

  • Competition on the depth chart
  • Talent around them
  • Quality of the coaching staff
  • Progression of fundamentals

Keep in mind this list is determining which players have the best chance to excel as rookies for this coming season.  It is not focused beyond that.  So players who might be considered busts now could very well alter that perception in the next year or so.  One of the greatest challenges for any draft expert and talent evaluator is figuring out who among those players will end up doing just that.  By limiting things to just the rookie campaign, it offers insight into who might have the taller mountains to climb.
