The Los Angeles Rams are holding out hope they can still trade quarterback Nick Foles, but the question is who might take that risk?

It’s hard to remember Foles is still just 27-years old.  It seems like just yesterday he was throwing seven touchdowns in a game against the Raiders and 27 touchdowns with two interceptions for the Philadelphia Eagles, winning a division title and seemingly announcing his arrival as a future elite quarterback.  Just three years later he’s gone from that to a failed starter on his second team who has been replaced by a rookie in Jared Goff.

Now according to Jason Cole of B/R, the Rams continue working the communication channels in hopes they can find a team will to take the disgruntled quarterback off their hands.

If one were to ask the question does a team exist out there who might be willing to give up even a late round pick and absorb Foles’ $8 million salary cap hit, one to strongly consider is the Indianapolis Colts.  It might sound crazy given the fact that Andrew Luck is set to return from injury, but that is partly why it makes sense.

Not being able to replace Luck last season is why the Colts weren’t able to repeat as division champions.  Matt Hasselbeck has retired, leaving guys like Scott Tolzien and Stephen Morris as the primary backup options.  Neither brings any legitimate NFL game experience, which is dangerous living if Luck were to go down again.

In spite of his struggles the past couple years, Foles is still 19-16 in his career as a starter.  He would offer instant depth and credibility behind Luck and represent that necessary life preserver that could keep the Indianapolis Colts afloat long enough to get their starter healthy.  Is that worth the price they’d have to pay?

Based on what happen last year, most would say yes.
