As stated in the first of this series detailing potential scenarios that could play out for the Chicago Bears to improve their roster, it’s key to know the man pulling the trigger.  GM Ryan Pace promised to spend in NFL free agency and has nine draft picks at his disposal.  However, don’t expect him to go for the blockbuster contract or the home run, do-or-die pick.

He is cautious, deliberate and cares more about value than he does flash.  In free agency it’s about getting bargain buys who are trending up in their careers.  In the draft it’s three simple words:  Best Player Available.  Pace is not going to overextend himself.  His first job is to make the Bears roster as talented as possible.  Too many risks have been taken in previous years.

His top priority going into 2016, according to most experts will be bolstering a defense that still has a number of holes in it.  They allowed 120 yards per game on the ground and over 20 points.  Teams don’t make the playoffs with those kinds of numbers.  So what is a possible outcome over the next few month that could change that?
