As we move closer to the half-way point of the college football season, the top teams will begin to separate from the rest of the pack. The same is true with NFL Draft prospects as the cream of the crop will be revealed throughout the conference schedule. The following prospects in particular need to step up in Week 6.

Jared Goff (QB – California) vs. Utah

The 5-0 Golden Bears travel to Utah to take on the 4-0 Utes. As if the win-loss records weren’t enough to signify this is a big game, College Gameday will be on the scene. In what could possibly be a Pac-12 title game preview, California’s Jared Goff needs to step up.

  • Goff has played extremely well so far this season, but this is by far his toughest test to date. Goff has led Cal to an average of over 43 points per game this season, eighth most in the nation. Utah on the other hand is only allowing 18 points per game.

As a result of his play early this season, Goff is a potential number one pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. This is the beginning of a tough stretch in the Pac-12 as Utah is the first of three consecutive games versus ranked opponents for Cal.

For Goff, this game will be on the road, against a tough defense, with the spotlight on him. Those are three reasons why this is the most important game of Goff’s career. Not just in terms of his team’s success, but for his draft stock as well. How he handles the pressure will go a long way in determining whether or not he’s the first quarterback selected in April.
