NFL Kick Returners: How do they Rank?

facebooktwitterreddit

Now that we are in full “grind” mode, I thought we’d take today to talk about the most glorious-unsung hero on the NFL field- the kick returners. While we all love watching kick returners, they tend to get forgotten about pretty quick near the end of their careers.

So how about we go through and list some of my own favorites in recent years, and when we get to the end you go through and rank your favorites in the comments below? Sound good?!

Sweet!

Let’s do it!

First off let’s talk about Josh Cribbs. While his time was somewhat short lived, he made the most of it while he was hot.Not known as much for the punt returns, he is tied for the NFL record for kick return touchdowns with eight.

11 return touchdowns total.

Next we’ll go into the great one- Neon Deion Sanders. Easily one of the best to ever do it, anytime “Primetime” touched the football there was a good chance he was going to score a touchdown.Didn’t matter if it was a punt, kickoff, or interception. If he could get a hold of it, there was a very good chance that was six points.

19 return touchdowns total

Okay, time to talk about my favorite to ever do it. He doesn’t get as much recognition as he should, but I’m talking about my boy Dante Hall. Probably one of the smallest guys in NFL history was so impossible to catch. It wasn’t the breakaway speed, it was the agility you need to have nightmares about. If you don’t believe me, just watch for yourself.

12 return touchdowns Total

And now, the best to ever do it, and still do it: Devin Hester. He has finally done it, he surpassed Sanders. Don’t just bother with the professional highlights I put here, go check out his college

20 return touchdowns total

Just to point out, I’m only naming a few of my own personal favorites here and this is in no ranking at all. Go ahead and tell me how you would rank them and who else you loved watching! The “Human Joystick” was easily my favorite to watch, and I’m hoping there is another like him soon!

(This last one may not have been a return touchdown, but can you really deny that this isn’t just awesome?!)
