Alabama Football: Prospect Watch List

Alabama football is a dominate powerhouse that is one of the nation’s best teams year in and year out. This year is no different, Alabama is loaded with talent like they always are and they are looking to get back on top.

More from College Football

After a tough loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoffs, Alabama has to replace some of their top guys that they lost to the NFL with guys that will play in the NFL next year. It’s a never ending cycle of producing talent down in Tuscaloosa. Let’s take a look at some of their top NFL prospects for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Derrick Henry – Junior, RB

Henry is a massive running back, his size is what sets him apart with most running backs. Henry is 6’3 235 lbs and has been clocked around a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash. In this year’s NFL Draft two running backs went in the first round and we may see that happen again in 2016. Ezekiel Elliott and Derrick Henry are going to get serious first round looks this year.

Without T.J. Yeldon in his way, Derrick Henry should take over this upcoming season. Alabama fans all around the country are expecting a monster year from Henry and with his talent he should be in the Heisman talk all season long.

A’Shawn Robinson – Junior, DL

Stats can be deceiving and that perfectly describes A’Shawn Robinson’s 2014 season. He did not register a sack at all last season but the potential is all there when you watch the film.

Robinson is one of the top defensive linemen in this draft — he is a offensive lineman’s worst nightmare in the interior. He is still developing his pass rushing skills but he is deceptively quick for his size and gives blockers tons of problems on the inside.

He can be a focal point in an NFL team’s defensive line and with more practice he should develop into an unblock able force.

O.J. Howard – Junior, TE

Derrick Henry’s best friend O.J. Howard is a tight end who posses an incredible amount of talent. With players like Amari Cooper, T.J. Yeldon, DeAndrew White and Derrick Henry it’s tough to get enough touches per game. With most of their contributing offense gone, Howard has a chance to blossom this year. He’s 6’6″ 240 lbs and has low 4.6 speed with toughness you want to see in a tight end. There hasn’t been much from Howard yet but that time could be coming.

Reggie Ragland – Senior, LB

Ragland entered the 2015 NFL draft as an early entrant but withdrew and decided to stay for his senior season. Coming back for his senior season was a smart move for him and he now enters as one of the top linebackers in this 2016 class.

Ragland was highly regarded coming out of high school but did not produce like a nation’s top player normally would his freshman year. He was a backup his sophomore year and started his junior year replacing C.J. Mosley at linebacker. Ragland has gotten better every year which is exactly what you want to see from a talent evaluating standpoint. This will be Ragland’s best year and a productive senior season could have him sliding into the back end of round one.

Reuban Foster – Junior, LB

Another highly touted Alabama recruit, Foster only has one start under his belt in the college ranks. This year with the departure of Trey DePriest, Reuban Foster should compete and win a starting linebacker spot. Foster has loads of potential and this could be the year he bursts onto the scene in the SEC.

Eddie Jackson – Junior, CB

Jackson is a talented defensive back who has started 15 out of his 18 games played. He tore his ACL and in five months returned to regain his starting corner back spot. Jackson has the ability to be an NFL cornerback but has some flaws technique wise. He got destroyed by Sammie Coates during the Auburn game but other than that has fared well against other SEC competition.
