DT Terrance Knighton Free Agency Fits: Raiders, Bears, Titans

Terrance Knighton, defensive tackle for the Denver Broncos, made a huge name for himself with a fourth down sack of Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game two years ago. Thus, Pot Roast was born and here we are today. Free Agency is right around the corner, and teams like the Raiders, Bears, and Titans could be in the running.

More from NFL Mocks

After Knighton’s big play against the Patriots that helped propel the Broncos to the Super Bowl, people started to realize how well he was playing in Jack Del Rio’s scheme and how much he had to do with the improvement of the Broncos’ run defense, which ranked near the top of the league both seasons he was there.

Knighton is a big personality who plays with passion, and while he’s not a three-down player, he’s one of the best at stuffing the run and occupying blockers in the NFL today. Some teams might not get Ndamukong Suh, but Knighton is not a bad consolation prize at a fraction of the price.

He likely won’t be returning to Denver this season, which a lot of Broncos fans are upset about — here are some other teams he might fit in with this offseason as he hits the open market.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders have plenty of money, a definite need on the defensive line, and the coach in place (Del Rio) to be the perfect fit for Knighton. He has publicly expressed his support for Coach Del Rio, and it’s been clear throughout his career that Del Rio has gotten the best out of him.

I think the Raiders would be doing really well to get Knighton in the fold, addressing a humongous need (literally) with a mountain of a man who can help turn around their run defense.

Chicago Bears

Old John Fox bolted to Chicago, where the Bears’ defensive line currently has more holes than Camp Green Lake, and the need for Knighton is as desperate there as anywhere else. The Bears have plenty of areas to address this offseason, so adding Knighton may be a luxury they can’t afford, but they should at least try.

They have been absolutely pitiful defending the run in recent years.

Tennessee Knightons…er…Titans

That was an actual thing I typed incorrectly, and it turned out to be fantastic so I kept it.

The Titans are a great fit for Knighton because he would pair well with Jurrell Casey. Could you imagine if the Titans follow this up by drafting Leonard Williams?

Tennessee has cap space and Knighton is a guy who could help vault that defensive unit immediately. It might not be the most pressing need on the team, but it’s an intriguing one.
