WR Jeremy Maclin Free Agency Fits: Chiefs, Browns, Eagles

So that’s what Jeremy Maclin can do when he’s completely healthy. It took him until his contract year, but he finally made it through an entire season with no injury hiccups. He posted career highs in receptions (85), yards (1,318), and tied his career high for touchdown catches (10). If he didn’t have any injury concerns, the 26 yeard old receiver would be cashing in big time. Instead, a team will get a talented, young receiver at a discounted price. Let’s take a look at which teams would be a nice fit for Maclin.

Kansas City Chiefs

One option for Maclin in free agency would be to reunite with former head coach Andy Reid in Kansas City. The Chiefs desperately need receiving help after their receivers caught a whopping zero (yes 0, nil, nada) touchdown passes over the course of the 2014 season.

Reid and Maclin are familiar with each other and it makes a lot of sense to reunite the two.

Cleveland Browns

If you didn’t know, the Cleveland Browns need receiving help. Josh Gordon is suspended for the season, again, and Jordan Cameron is officially a free agent after not receiving the franchise tag.

That leaves the 5’7″ Andrew Hawkins as the team’s number one option heading into 2015. Hawkins is a nice player, but he won’t scare any defenses as the Browns’ leading receiving threat.

Maclin would step in and immediately be the top receiving threat for an offense that needs receivers. The Browns should be in play for almost every receiver on the market this offseason.

Philadelphia Eagles

Of course a return to Philadelphia isn’t out of the question either. Maclin is confident that the two sides can get a deal done and that he will remain an Eagle. He’s a perfect fit for Chip Kelly’s offense and the Eagles would be hard pressed to let their best receiver walk without making a good effort to bring him back.
