The Denver Broncos’ season came to an abrupt and disappointing close with a loss to the Indianapolis Colts on their home field in the divisional round of the playoffs, and it prompted John Elway to make some necessary changes on the team, starting with head coach John Fox and his staff.

After reports had come out that Fox and/or some of his other assistant coaches (Jack Del Rio, Adam Gase) had other jobs lined up, the Broncos blew it in their lone playoff game, and were sent home early this season after an AFC Championship run last season.

Now, the Broncos have hired Gary Kubiak as the next head coach of the team, and Elway will do everything and anything in his power to ensure the Broncos are once again in contention for the top prize in all the NFL next season. That starts with free agency and building this new coaching staff, but it also will get a huge boost from the 10 draft picks the Broncos are expected to own come April.

The Broncos have six draft picks of their own and are likely to receive a maximum of four compensatory picks after losing eight free agents last season in the unrestricted free agency period. Here’s a look at how the Broncos could invest those 10 draft picks come draft weekend.

Ereck Flowers. 1. player. 45. The Broncos need help along the offensive line and if Flowers can step in and start at right tackle, it would be a huge get for them. He’s got great size at 6-6 324 pounds, and can move. The Broncos drafted Michael Schofield in the 3rd round this past year, but he might be best suited at guard. What happens with Orlando Franklin could also affect this choice.. OT. Miami (FL)

player. 45. Will Montgomery stepped in and did an admirable job after the Broncos had to shuffle the offensive line, and to be honest, this is an area I could see the team going hard after in free agency, but Grasu is a nice prospect regardless. He has great movement skills for a pivot and is a perfect fit for the zone blocking scheme.. C. Oregon. Hroniss Grasu. 2

The 6-7, 260 pound freakish athlete is going to draw a lot of attention leading up to the draft, but right now he’s projected as a fringe third round pick, so this is a good spot for the Broncos to cash in on his potential. He could be a mismatch nightmare in the passing game and also develop into a dominant blocker.. TE. Penn State. Jesse James. 3. player. 45
