The Philadelphia Eagles have legitimate interest in going after Marcus Mariota in the 2015 NFL draft.  Who might be willing to make such a deal?

Washington Redskins

#5 Overall Pick

One can imagine the Washington Redskins will envision a scenario identical to what they went through in 2012 when they gave up three 1st and two 2nd round picks for Robert Griffin III.  This idea would present them an opportunity to regain much of the currency they lost in that deal.  The question will be whether the Redskins brass feels comfortable handing a top quarterback in the draft to a division rival.

  • Chicago Bears

    #7 Overall Pick

GM Ryan Pace did a fine job grabbing John Fox for the head coaching position, but his task is far from over.  He still has a Chicago Bears roster light on young talent and could use a serious infusion.  As it stands, the Bears have only six picks in the draft, so trading down to collect more is certainly an option, especially if it’s one or two future 1st rounders.  That would enable the turnaround to accelerate far more rapidly.

    St. Louis Rams

    #10 Overall Pick

The team that dealt RGIII to the Redskins might have interest in acquiring another such package.  The St. Louis Rams don’t fear moving around the board and if they have no designs on taking Marcus Mariota given their announcements regarding Sam Bradford, then this deal is certainly feasible.  Granted, a jump from #20 to #10 won’t net them the same haul as in 2012, but it would add yet more firepower to their draft coffers.

    Minnesota Vikings

    #11 Overall Pick

Another GM who loves to wheel and deal on draft day…  Rick Spielman has his quarterback now with Teddy Bridgewater, so making a move down is more sensible for his Minnesota Vikings as he continues to try to close the gap in the NFC North with Green Bay and Detroit.  Besides, with their primary needs focused on areas that can be found later in the 1st round, it’s a practical solution.

It all comes down to whether the Philadelphia Eagles are willing to be that aggressive in the 2015 NFL draft for Marcus Mariota.
